| Some shows you can watch an episode here or
there and still enjoy it, but there are many
shows out there that are best watched one after
the other in rapid succession this usually is
because of large story arcs that for long
periods of time. I know I've experienced shows
before that I tried picking up midseason and was
utterly confused. In todays era of TV shows
turning into DVD sets large arcs are becoming
more and more prevelant. Here are some I've run
across so far:
Alias
I began watching Alias mid second season;
needless to say I would have been lost if not
for my vetern veiwer friend who patiently
explained everything to me. Alias does such a
wonderful job of cliffhangers, most every
episode seems to end in the middle of a mission
or right after something ground break happens/is
found out. The season finales are the worst;
episode 22 always ends with a huge event
happening. I would highly suggest having the
next season readily at hand when you get to the
series finale.

Charmed
I can't express how excited I am that they are
finally releasing Charmed on DVD. While you can
watch on here or there of the first few seasons
it's not as simple as the series evolves into a
more complicated one further down the line. I do
have to admitt I haven't quite been sold on this
series yet, perhaps this is because I haven't
had a chance to view it properly yet. While I
consider the acting good the writing sometimes
bothers me, I keep noticing inconsistcies within
the series itself. Of course, again that panders
out as the series continues on.

Firefly
I am most certainly counting down the days until
the theatrical release of this wonderful show. I
was quite hesitent about Firefly at first
because I thought I was done with SciFi,
apparently not. Firefly is living proof how
important it is to watch shows of this sort in
proper order; a common net theory holds that it
is due to Foxes refusal to show the series in
it's proper order that led to it's early demise.

Andromeda
After finding out how wonderful Firefly was I
decided to give Andromeda a fair chance so I
bought the first DVD (it being in the $5 bin
helped me to make this decision), a few days
later I went out and purchased the complete
first season. The first season is pretty
straight forward, you can pop in and out without
much problem, but as the show continues it
becomes more like Alias where you become horibly
lost if you don't watch it properly. The one
complaint I have is that in an attempt to get
more money from the viewer the studio is very
slow at releasing the complete seasons and
instead releasing the series in Volumes, which
are horribly over priced.

Nip/Tuck
Nip/Tuck is really the only show I watch where I
am close to coming out of my "geek" realm. It's
just so pop culture, but I enjoy it. Anyway, due
to the show's being a nighttime soap opera the
show needs to be watched in proper succession.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
One interesting thing about Buffy was that up
until season 5 one could generally watch the
first half of the season without worrying about
any grander story arch. I'd have to say that
this is probably the only show I ever watched in
proper order and I'd have to say watching the
show that way made it much more enjoyable.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Series
(Seasons 1-7)'
Angel
As with most TV shows larger story arcs didn't
really come out in Angel until a few seasons in,
which is also when the show actually began to be
good. Once the show started adding characters
and seemingly making it more about people it
became really good. As a warning this show, as
with Alias, makes us of huge end of season
cliffhangers to keep people wanting more. Be
sure to have the next season at hand when you
watch the season finale.

Dark Angel
I cannot begin to describe the amount of
injustice that was done to this show and its
fans by Fox. Dark Angel was a good show that
just feel pray to a bad time slot unfortunately,
and even ore unfortunately the show left off
after building up towards a huge event for a
whole season. There are some books that tie the
series up, but it's just not the same. Don't get
me wrong it's a worthwhile show, but don't
expect a season 3 after seeing the finale of
season 2.

Xena: The Warrior Princess
A great spin off of the Hercules TV show.
Amazingly, the show started much more series
than it later became. I can't say much about the
show yet, because I've only just begun to watch
it and the slightly higher cost of the DVD sets
is slowing my purchasing down a bit.

24
24 is such a great concept for a show, a show
essentially in real time. A show like that is
just asking to be watched in seccession, of
course when watched like that it will fall a
little short of 24 hours because of commercial
breaks being missing, but you'll still get the
feel.

Based upon an 80s series of movies the

really meld with the movies themselves.

Hercules: The Legendary Journey
Hercules is the show where the Xena orginated.
Hercules is the more serious of the two show and
probably the lesser, but as with Xena the show
is best veiwed in a continueous mannor.

Roswell
So far I've only seen one episode of the show
and so can only say it is defiently one that
needs to be watched in proper order. I plan to
borrow the first few seasons from a friend for
during the holiday season and will marathon
them.
