Rangeley is a town in Franklin County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,052 at the 2000 census. It is named after an Englishman, Squire James Rangeley, who developed the area after arrival in 1825, giving extensively of his land to settlers while building a sawmill, a gristmill, and a ten mile road to the rest of the world.
