Days Inn was founded in 1970 on Tybee Island, Georgia by the late Cecil B. Day, a real estate developer who later achieved note as a prominent Christian philanthropist. Two of Day's sons have pursued careers in politics. Clint Day served as a member of the Georgia State Senate and ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor.
