See above. But in this one I don't understand some of the changes from the book, esp the trick they had to play on Treebeard to get him to attack, and Gimli was mostly comic relief. Terrific overall.

Almost forgotten, this is a tale of lovers separated by an evil curse, and their effort to enlist a thief's aid to break it. Original and sharply done. Not for the dull-witted.

Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan (Director's Edition) DVD ~ William Shatner
Movies II, III, and IV were IMO the peak of Trek on the big screen. They recaptured the best aspects of the original series and laced all elements together smoothly.

Star Trek III - The Search for Spock (Special Edition) DVD ~ Merritt Butrick
These three all took place in a tight span of time, flowing from the end of one to the beginning of the next. It's a neat little continuing story without depending too much on one another.

Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (Special Edition) DVD ~ Vijay Amritraj
Take the best of classic Trek, throw in some very good comedy and you get clean, terrific fun. Awesomeness is achieved.

Many believe it's better than the original, but that's debatable. Much, much bigger budget and spiffier effects, for sure. Suspenseful, exciting, all you can ask for.

The saga continues. Should it have been laid to rest already? It still has mileage in it. In this one things continue to move along all right, hopefully toward Mr. Cameron's next contribution.

Ridley Scott is at it again, giving us gripping suspense,making our fists and jaws tighten up with suspense, and making us wish for more.

Aliens (Collector's Edition) DVD ~ Sigourney Weaver
Brilliant blend of sci fi, horror, and war genres. Having Cameron follow Scott is no loss of greatness in vision. Forget 3 and 4. See the first two and enjoy!

Blade (New Line Platinum Series) DVD ~ Clint Curtis
Original in concept and well executed. Great music btw. I'm not too big on vamp movies, but this is a fine one. As for Blade 2...ahem it was ok but no...though I look forward to Trinity.

A defining moment for sci fi. Made on a slim budget but with well-written and original story. We have a classic here.

I'm not a comic book guy but these are really good. The second is even better than the first, which is rare. Interesting characters and a plot that tells a story I can follow and relate to.

Gattaca (Superbit Collection) DVD ~ Ethan Hawke
Interesting sci-fi-genre exploration of one man's unstoppable effort to live his dream.

2010: The Year We Make Contact DVD ~ Roy Scheider
I didn't include the first one because I didn't understand it. But this one was terrific in special effects and in storytelling. How often do we get both together???

Only listred this one because I didn't have room for Predator 1 in the list (25 items max) and I think this one is a little better. It rox.
