The Best Studio Albums Ever (In my opinion)   More Guides & lists
Tyler "CaptainJack24"(Bradford, PA United States)

Revolver [UK]
Revolver [UK] by Beatles, The
This is simply the greatest album ever made, every song is great so it's very consistent.
Rubber Soul
Rubber Soul by Beatles, The
The Beatles are the best band of all-time, and this one started their "evolution."
Piano Man
Piano Man by Billy Joel
I'm a biased Billy Joel fan, but this would sound amazing to anyone with the title track and "Captain Jack," two classics.  It's a very complete album and its the reason that I began playing piano.

Beggars Banquet
Beggars Banquet by Rolling Stones, The
The Stones are only overshadowed by The Beatles and this acoustic-based album is what started their string of four five star albums.  "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Salt of the Earth" are the classics.
Born to Run
Born to Run by Springsteen, Bruce
This is the perfect rock album-other than a song or two on the second side.
The Beatles (The White Album)
The Beatles (The White Album) by Beatles, The
An "uneven masterpiece," the White Album could have been cut down to a perfect single volume, but the variety is actually what makes it great (Read my review for this one).
Madman Across the Water
Madman Across the Water by John, Elton
Although Elton is probably even more popular than Billy, I saw them both in concert and Billy is definitely better.  This album shows that Elton is very good too though.
The Band
The Band by Band, The
The most underrated band in history, The Band had several great albums, but this one stands out to me.
Turnstiles [Enhanced Version]
Turnstiles [Enhanced Version] by Billy Joel
The most underrated album of all time by the best solo artist ever.  Believe me, his songs sound better on a piano than anyone else's.
Let It Bleed
Let It Bleed by Rolling Stones, The
"Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" would appeal to anyone, but the rest of the album may take some getting used to.
Abbey Road
Abbey Road by Beatles, The
The Beatles' Swansong, this album closes with an amazing finale.  The Beatles did so much in so little time.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by Beatles, The
The most revolutionary album in rock history.  I wouldn't have any objections if a person made a list of the greatest albums ever with The Beatles taking up all of the top five spots.
Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO)
Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO) by Led Zeppelin
This is another nearly perfect album.  "Stairway to Heaven," "Black Dog," and "Going to California" are the standouts.
The Stranger
The Stranger by Billy Joel
Billy Joel's most famous effort, although he should have been popular well before this album.
Tumbleweed Connection
Tumbleweed Connection by John, Elton
Elton John and Bernie Taupin do some of their best writing here.  "Burn Down the Mission" should have been a hit.
Sticky Fingers
Sticky Fingers by Rolling Stones, The
The third of four amazing Stones albums released in a row.  "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" is awesome, and "Brown Sugar" is overplayed but still good.
Led Zeppelin II
Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
This album was thrown together quickly but it still has the classics "Whole Lotta Love" and "Ramble On"
Blonde on Blonde
Blonde on Blonde by Dylan, Bob
This was originally a double LP and was one of Bob's many great albums of the mid 60's.
Exile on Main Street
Exile on Main Street by Rolling Stones, The
Many people think that this is the best Stones album.  I disagree because it is very inconsistent (much more than The Beatles' White Album), but it still has many great tracks.
River of Dreams
River of Dreams by Billy Joel
This is turning out to be Billy Joel's final rock album.  He has done so much that he would be forgiven if he never makes another LP, but he is capable of making more albums as good as this.
Every Picture Tells a Story
Every Picture Tells a Story by Stewart, Rod
Rod Stewart became very annoying in the late 70's and the standards he sings today aren't impressing me, but in the early 70's he was as good as anyone of the time.
Tea for Tillerman
Tea for Tillerman by Stevens, Cat
Cat Stevens left music too early but this was one of the good albums he did make.  "Wild World" is still a popular song.
Stage Fright
Stage Fright by Band, The
Every song is great on this one.  Robbie Robertson proved that he is one of the best songwriters and guitarists ever.
Pet Sounds
Pet Sounds by Beach Boys, The
This is very overshadowed by The Beatles' albums of this time period, as it should be, but it is still good in its own right.
A Hard Day's Night (1964 Film)
A Hard Day's Night (1964 Film) by Beatles, The
This is by far the best early Beatles album.  It stands out to me because all the songs were written by Lennon/McCartney, it is very consistent, and it was recorded in a very short period of time.
