New Totoro Toys

Check out these lovable Totoro toys from the classic anime movie My Neighbor Totoro. They're cute and cuddly and want to be your quirky friends. Totoro is the big cuddly thing from My Neighbor Totoro, a Hayao Miyazaki animation. My Neighbor Totoro, is a 1988 Japanese anime film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. The film follows the two young daughters of a professor and their interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural Japan. The movie won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 1988. The movie was originally released in the U.S. in VHS format with the title, My Friend Totoro.

Totoro is a spirit of the forest. Totoro is not a traditional Japanese character, he came completely from Miyazaki's imagination. However, he is obviously a mixture of several animals: tanukis (ie. the raccoon dog, a wild dog similar to raccoons), cats (the pointed ears and the facial expressions), and owls (the chevron markings on their chests and the "ooo"-ing sound they make with their ocarinas at night). Children and Totoro have a special relationship. This warm, round creature of the woods can be seen only by children, with their pure and innocent hearts.
