Sioux Falls (pronounced "sue falls") is the largest city in the state of South Dakota. The 2006 city population, according to the census bureau, is 144,900. The county seat of Minnehaha CountyGR6, Sioux Falls is the primary city of a metro area of 211,500. Chartered in 1856 on the banks of the Big Sioux River, many recognize Sioux Falls for its natural scenery, which includes a bike and walking trail that winds around the Big Sioux River. Situated on the prairie of the Great Plains at the junction of I-90 and I-29, Sioux Falls is a unique center of urban and rural interaction.
