| First off, any iPod Power user will have two iPods. One for holding all your music and another more suitable for working out. That means you'll have to get either an 'Apple 20 GB iPod M9282LL/A' or an 'Apple 4 GB iPod Mini Silver M9160LL/A' depending on how much music you have in iTunes and the new 'Apple 512 MB iPod Shuffle M9724LL/A' for more active portability. I chose the silver colored mini since it's the most basic in design, but feel free to try one of the more outrageous colors; green, pink, orange or blue. Now that you have all that portable space for your music, you need an easy way to get it on the iPod. That's where the 'iPod Dock' comes in. Just remember that this Dock is for the 'Apple 20 GB iPod M9282LL/A' only. If you want a Dock specifically for the smaller dimensioned iPod mini, check out the appropriately named 'Apple iPod Mini Dock'. A true power user will need two of these Docks. One to leave permanently connected to your computer (Mac or PC) and another to leave permanently connected to your stereo receiver. Hooking up the iPod to a receiver is easy. All you need is the 'Monster Cable iCable for iPod'. Just connect the red and white RCA jacks into the 'Audio In' ports of a receiver and the other end to the 'Audio Out' port on the back of the Dock. Now all you have to do is plunk your iPod into the Dock, turn on your receiver and BOOM, you have access to all the music on your iPod. Thrifty users note: you can connect either iPod to a reciever without a Dock; just put the cable's connector into the headphone jack on the iPod. Another option to give you the same effect is the 'Altec Lansing inMotion Portable Audio System for iPod'. This is the perfect solution for the iPod traveler or for work. Your own personal radio that never plays a song you don't want to hear. What could be better than that? Oh I know, the inMotion Portable Speakers offers above average sound and folds up compactly for easy portability! If you want a more personal listening experience, the earbuds included with the iPod do an above average job at producing loud, clear sound. But for a slightly better sound, you might want to try out the 'Apple iPod Earbud Headphones'. Some people don't like the feel of this kind of earbud, so if possible, try before you buy. In order to access all the music on your iPod when it is in your inside pocket, bag or purse, you'll need the 'Apple iPod Remote and Earbuds'. This wired remote gives you full access to all the iPod controls while it's safely tucked away from people with 'sticky fingers'. And for making sure that your iPod isn't getting all scratched and dinged up when you are hiding it from the world in your bag (or wherever), you should purchase the highly fashionable 'Apple iPod Sock Set (6 Socks)'. I keep one of these in my backpack, one on my bedside table, one in the car and one on my desk. Whenever I'm not listening to the iPod I simply slip it into the sock and don't have to worry about dust, scratches or dings mucking up my beautiful device. One of the most common places to listen to iPod is the car. Did I hear you ask, "How do you play your iPod through your cars speakers?" Easy, pick up the 'Sony CPA-9C CD/MD Cassette Adaptor with Self-Adjusting, Spring-Loaded Head'. Simply connect the cassette adapter to your iPods headphone jack and put the adapter in the cassette deck. For the more adventurous, you can try the 'Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter for 1G & 2G iPod', though I've heard that it doesn't offer as good sound quality as the a wired solution. For the active user, you'll need one or both of the following for the iPod Shuffle: an'Apple iPod Shuffle Sport Case' or the 'Apple iPod Shuffle Armband'. There is a similar product for the iPod mini called appropriately enough the 'Apple iPod Mini Arm Band M9445G/A'. Either armband works perfectly for jogging, biking, rollerblading and many other physical activities. Once you try it, you'll never want to work out with your 40 GB iPod again. The 'Apple iPod Shuffle Sport Case' is great for long walks and gym workouts and gives you the added security of knowing that your iPod Shuffle won't fall out of the USB cap or be pulled off by covetous strangers. For added ease when charging your iPod Shuffle at home you should pick up the 'Apple iPod Shuffle Dock Connector'. This handy dock especially for the iPod Shuffle gives you easy access for charging if your available USB port is hidden in the nether regions of your computer. There you have it - all the gadgets you can get from Amazon that will make you a Power iPod User. I'll leave you with these thoughts, "iPod in the morning. iPod in the evening. iPod on the lawn. iPod on the john. iPod near and far. iPod in the car. And if I can't pod, I'll die." |
