There is a magazine for every interest, it would seem, no matter how specific the subject matter. From cars, brides, health, cooking, fitness, wine, cigars, technology, architecture, interior design and beyond, the range of magazines has exploded in recent years. As people's interests have become increasingly explicit, magazines have sought to keep the customer satisfied.

The greatly reduced cost of preparing a magazine (thanks in large part to technology) and the ability to publish low-cost issues even for small printings have made magazines the new favorite of readers. Their disposable nature is also appealing, and their small size makes it easy for people on the go to take a magazine with them as they commute and travel. Information inside a magazine also tends to be brief, which fits nicely with the pace of modern day life, too.

Magazines are increasingly published by companies that have a vested interest in educating the public in their subject matter. For example, a computer manufacturer may well decide to publish a magazine to help promote its products. This will differ from a consumer advocate magazine discussing the same topics, of course, so the reader should be aware of these distinctions.

Magazines serve every age and taste as well. Children's magazines are common, as are magazines for retirees. The content will be aimed at the audience, as will the advertising, so magazines also provide a way to see new products. Magazines are available either as single issues, or on a subscription basis.
