Choosing a changing table can be difficult. On the one hand, you need a functional piece of equipment that meets you and your child's needs. On the other hand, for such a large piece of furniture, you want something that will look nice and coordinate with the rest of your décor.

If your baby has a large nursery and storage is not a concern, you may want a simple, open-style changing table. These changing tables will usually allow you to lay your baby on the top for changing and have open shelves below. You can store a few diapers, wipes, powder, and maybe a change of clothes on these open shelves. Since these shelves are not enclosed, you really cannot stack too much on them, both for practical and aesthetic reasons. If you have room for a separate dresser or chest of drawers, you should be able to keep your baby's changing table relatively organized.

If space is at a premium, look for a changing table that includes enclosed drawers or cabinets. You can even find baby changing tables with a hutch above where your baby lays. These are great pieces of furniture. You can fit all of your diapering essentials in them, as well as some clothes, blankets, or other items.
