A baby gate is an important investment, not only for the safety of your baby, but for your own peace of mind. Once your baby takes off crawling, which will probably happen sooner than you may think, it will be impossible to keep them contained. These baby gates act as barriers, to keep your baby from falling down stairs or away from a hot stove, and to keep baby enclosed in the areas of the house that are totally baby proof and safe. When your baby is just becoming mobile, the excitement and inquisitiveness that they feel overrides every other emotion. Another use for baby gates is as dog or pet gates. Anyone that has had a new puppy realizes that a very young puppy is constantly chewing, digging, and using the bathroom. The best way to keep your puppy from driving you crazy, or hurting himself by chewing on an electrical cord or other dangerous item, is to puppy proof an area and put up gates to keep him in that area.

By keeping your new puppy in a confined area, you will also have an easier time housebreaking it. With the entire house to roam through, your puppy is likely to develop his own special potty spot. By keeping him in a small area with an easily cleaned floor, such as the kitchen, you can keep an eye on him at all times, easily spot and clean up mistakes, and reward him for coming to the gate and asking to go out.
