| Taylor Made drivers are not your grandfather's drivers. Though they do still sell vintage drivers, Taylor Made mostly focuses on the future of golf and on making each club in the bag perform at a higher standard. The drivers are no exception. The R5 and R7 series claim to be the most powerful and most forgiving drivers that Taylor Made, or anyone, has ever created. For Taylor Made, the R5 and R7 series represent their latest masterworks in the ongoing refinement of the game. The challenge with the large-headed clubs, in general, is to find a way to shift the center of gravity. Since the center of gravity is necessarily far from the heel and closer to the clubface, it's often difficult to line up the clubface to nail the ball squarely at impact. The Taylor Made R5 clubs Type D (or draw bias) and Type N (neutral directional bias) both take on the challenge of the center of gravity and meet it in different ways, while both using two fixed weights to do it. The Type D uses a "pulled heel" shape to shift the weight around, and the Type N takes a more classical approach to the issue. The R7 series features four moveable weights for yet another approach to the center of gravity issue. The R7 in its own right has been the most awarded driver ever made. Its weighting issue allows for a unique weight distribution for each golfer. This allows players to change their launch angle and spin rate for a better drive.
