Over the years, the development of digital technology has allowed manufacturers to both make things smaller and combine multiple devices into one. A perfect example of this is the DuoCam Samsung camcorder model, or VP-D6050i. Not only is this device an affordable, quality miniDV camcorder, but it also has an integrated five mega-pixel still camera.

Currently, many manufacturers offer camcorders capable of taking still photographs. Unfortunately, since the initial design of these products remains that of a camcorder, the quality of such pictures is usually extremely low. A simple look at the body of the DuoCam shows that this Samsung camcorder does things differently. This Samsung camcorder has two different lenses--one to record video and the other to capture stills.

By literally putting two different components together, Samsung has created a product that doesn't compromise the quality of either. Users simply switch between the two modes by pressing a button. There is no sharing of space on the DuoCam--it can be perceived as either a camcorder with a built-in still camera, or vice-versa.
