Skin care products by Philosophy focus on healthy skin care, anti-aging, and a "makeup optional" look. Skin care has been the focus of this company since they started, more than 15 years ago. Known then as BioMedic, this company introduced Philosophy in 1996 with the main focus being the promotion of healthy skin for those suffering from acne, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, post-pregnancy skin problems, perimenopausal problems, and more.

For the face, Philosophy cleansers include their Purity Made Simple line that deeply cleanses skin and acts as an effective makeup remover as well. For people with excessive freckles or hyperpigmentation, Philosophy offers A Pigment of Your Imagination. This product treats brown spots, sun damage and "pregnancy masks," or a darkening of the skin and breakouts due to hormones produced during pregnancy. It is available online and in stores.

For the body, Philosophy body wash comes in all shapes and functions. Most unique, perhaps, is The Gingerbread Man Salt Scrub, a hot exfoliant for use in the tub or shower. It contains water-soluble salt crystals that heat up as they are rubbed on the body.

Hope in a Jar
The Philosophy Hope line features one of the company's best-selling products, called Hope in a Jar. This facial moisturizer contains a powerful antioxidant called beta glucan, which boosts skin's ability to regenerate. It was originally created for the medical market and promises to make pale or sallow skin rosy. It also boasts repair for combination skin and skin that is sun damaged.
