| Peter Weller is an American actor
and the son of a decorated Army helicopter pilot. During his
early years, Weller moved around frequently, as his father's
stations changed. He lived in Germany, Texas, and Wisconsin.
During his upbringing, Weller fell in love with music, particularly
jazz. His favorite musician of all-time is the legendary Miles
Davis, and his mother's family is populated by piano players
of prodigious talent. After getting a B.A. in Theatre at North
Texas State University, Weller pursued acting at the American
Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. After winning acclaim
for several minor roles, he began training with mentors Lee
Strasberg and Elia Kazan. Soon, he began starring in movies.
His first appearance was in Butch and Sundance: The Early
Days, in 1979.
Subsequent to that, he starred in movies with Diane Keaton,
Alan McGraw, Alan King, Albert Finney, and other big screen
greats. In 1983, Weller won the Paris International Film Festival's
award for best actor with his performance in Of Unknown Origin.
During the 1980s, his star rose further. His most celebrated
appearances came in adventure movies. As the menacing android
policeman in RoboCop and RoboCop II, and as the
eclectic hero in The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonsai Across
the 8th Dimension, Weller captured America's imagination.
Yet Weller took time off from making crowd pleasers to do
some independent and unusual movies, as well, such as Naked
Lunch, and Woody Allen's, Mighty Aphrodite. He also
won a role in the sci-fi show Odyssey 5, and he has appeared
on Star Trek: Enterprise. You can discover a full list
of Peter Weller's credits on the IMDB.
