Notebook Sony

The three pound VAIO T-150 is one popular lightweight notebook Sony offers. As might be expected from such a small, inexpensive unit, the VGN T-150 provides a relatively limited 10.6 inch display. However, this display comes with 1285 x 760 pixel resolution. Under the hood of the VAIO T-150, you can find advanced technology, including an 802.11 b/g wireless card, a 1.1 GHz Intel Pentium M processor, and 512 MB of RAM.

Even with the excessive RAM standard, however, the Vaio T-150 is not particularly fast. Part of the problem is that the hard drive spins at the relatively slow rate of 4,200 RPMs. For an additional $200, you can bump up to the next level of notebook Sony offers, the Sony VAIO VGN T-250. This offers a DVD burner and slightly more processing power (1.2 GHz).

The next level of notebook Sony offers, the Sony VAIO VGN T-350, features a double layer DVD burner and allows you to integrate with LAN cellular networks. Of course, you have to pay extra for this integration service. All VAIO T series models come in three colors--blue, burgundy, and silver. These laptops come standard with either Windows XP Professional or XP Home.

Computers in the T series come with lithium ion batteries standard. These batteries can last as long as nine hours, but be prepared to recharge sooner than that. You get a solid keyboard, a multimedia control panel, and a decent sound card. If you want to connect to a fax machine or a land modem, these units feature 56 kBps fax modems and advanced DVD-RW drives.
