The Motorola company has undergone many metamorphoses over the years. Originally specializing in various types of car radios, it has gradually become known mostly for its innovations in the field of microchips. Motorola chips are or have been used in walkie-talkies, television satellites, defense electronics, and, of course, personal computers.
These days, Motorola's two most well-known fields have to be in computers and cell phones. Motorola microprocessors--basically the "brain" of the computer--are featured in many different types of personal computers. They generally provide very fast, high-end processors, which can handle large amounts of data without obvious amounts of slow-down.
On the cellular phone front, Motorola is more of a newcomer. They offer a range of well-designed phones, including the popular Razr V3. The Razr has been incredibly well-received, due to its elegant design, extreme thinness, and integrated camera phone. In 2005, Motorola announced that the Razr V3 was the most popular cellular shell in Europe. Its ability to play a variety of MP3, as well as MPEG4 video clips, has also been an important key to the product's success.
Recently, Motorola produced another breakthrough in cellular technology, when it released the ROKR E1 model phone. The ROKR E1 is the first cellular phone to provide integration with the popular iTunes music program. It basically combines the capabilities of a cellular phone and an mp3 player in a single product. Its hard drive allows it to retain up to 100 individual song titles at any one time.
