With all of the different types of
printers available, what's special about an inkjet printer?
Inkjet printers spray ink onto the surface of the paper, as
opposed to using lasers and other technology, and it's a
low-cost printing option for home computer use. Even with color,
the result is high-quality copy with sharp graphics and crisp
text.
Inkjet printers can be used with a variety of papers,
including plain paper. However, if you use coated paper that is
especially for use with inkjet printers, the ink won't absorb
into the paper, and the results will be superior. If you use
photo paper, you will have excellent quality images and strong
graphics resolution. If you burn CDs or DVDs frequently, you may
want an inkjet CD printer that can print directly onto CDs or
DVDs. Epson inkjet printers are a good example of such a
multi-purpose printer.
You can also find what are called "solid inkjet printers,"
which produce high-quality graphics. The colors are applied
densely to the paper to produce opaque tones, making reports and
other work products look very professional. These printers are
decreasing in price as technology improves, like other
computer-related equipment.
Inkjet printers are more affordable than laser printers,
which is their main selling point. However, inkjet printer
cartridges need to be changed more often in inkjet printers,
which is an important factor to consider. Many printer
manufacturers sell printers at cost or even at a loss, because
they make their money off of the supplies you will buy in the
future, such as inkjet printer ink.
