Infinity speakers are offered in a variety of forms, including indoor
and outdoor, home theater, bookshelf and floor standing speakers. Home
audio speakers are part of a multi-billion dollar electronics industry,
with roots in popular companies like Infinity. Infinity speakers offer
ultra-high frequency responses up to 40KHz and individual speaker
wattage up to 250 peak watts per channel.
The Beta Series is a high-end option in Infinity speakers. The Beta
50 model speakers feature a three-way, four-driver design with dual
eight-inch woofers. In addition, the tweeters included in these home
audio speakers are mounted in a specially designed waveguide for
improved frequency dispersion. Beta 50 speakers are fairly high-end
products, though, so expect to pay a bit more.
Infinity speakers, both high and low-end, are available in wood
finish and metal casings to match your home decor. On the high end of
the scale, Infinity floor standing speakers--a good option for
apartment-dwellers--can run into the thousands of dollars. The most
luxurious Infinity speakers include Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD)
driver technology, which is said to be stronger than conventional
drivers made of paper, plastic or metal. CMMD drivers also lower
distortion levels and reduce "tinny" or "flat" sound to an indiscernible
level.
Infinity speakers are magnetically shielded for improved life and
wear. The tweeter inside is mounted in a specially designed acoustic
impedance waveguide for greater high-frequency dispersion. Ohm range is
four to eight ohms and metal cased towers provide further damping (sound
cushioning) and allow only a small aspect ration for diffraction.
