At only 4.5 pounds, the ThinkPad T-40 is easy to tote. Its so-called "Rapid Restore PC" program allows mobile workers to reboot their systems and minimizes "start and stop" time. This feature may not seem that impressive, but when you factor in how many five-minute chunks the average "slow laptop user" loses over the years, you can see the appeal. This program can save users literally dozens of hours per year of precious business time.

Unlike other small laptops, the IBM ThinkPad T-40 comes with an exquisitely sized keyboard to protect against repetitive stress and other ergonomic problems. That said, the T-40 is not a perfect machine. You need a special adapter plug to get AC power, and you have to install your own FDD.
