| A golf cart is a small vehicle designed to carry two golfers and their golf clubs around a golf course, or alternately only their clubs. Since they are faster and use less effort than walking, they are generally used for older or less fit golfers. Some golf carts come with small gas engines. However, the majority are electrically powered. There are also three basic styles of golf cart that are used for golfers who walk the course. They are push carts, pull carts, and electric hand carts. The type of cart you choose to purchase depends on your specific needs. Golf pull carts are the most traditional style. They usually have two wheels, and are pulled behind you as you walk, thus the name, golf pull carts. Although they're generally lighter overall than push carts, pull carts are usually not recommended for people with back problems. The three-wheel design of a push cart is a lot easier on the back. They are usually pushed ahead of you, although it is possible to pull them behind you, if you prefer. Push carts have a break system to prevent your cart, and thus your clubs, from rolling away from you. Electric carts are the ultimate in golf carts and are similar to 3-wheeled push carts. However, they are self-propelled. These carts still allow you to enjoy the fitness benefits of walking, while totally eliminating the back and shoulder strain involved in pulling or pushing your cart around. As a result, your body is relaxed, loose, balanced and ready to swing. Electric hand carts are capable of climbing and descending hills effortlessly. They run on a rechargeable battery that can last for 18 holes of play. Some carts can even be operated by remote control. There are also custom golf carts available for golfers with special needs. |
