The company began in 1791 with watchmaker J.F. Bautte, a talented craftsman who was known for the ultra-thin composition of his watches. The company was passed on to Jacques Bautte and Jean Samuel Rossel in 1837. However, the name Girard Perregaux would not form until 1854.Until the launch of the Vintage 1945 Lady line, Girard Perregaux was predominantly known for masculine watches. However, the Vintage 1945 Lady line successfully combined feminine colors such as translucent blue with quality materials such as luxurious diamond bezels, mother of pearl dials, and silk straps. Girard Perregaux had found the perfect way to complement a woman's wrist.
