Giant's FormulaOne frames and forks are built for comfort and speed. Giant engineers use Finite Element Analysis and Uni-Directional layering to build the perfect amount of compliance into each frame without compromising lateral stability. FormulaOne uses a lug-less composite technology. Instead they make use of an air bladder construction to form a one-piece front triangle. They avoid using lugs by joining chain and seatstays to the front triangle. This makes FormulaOne Composite frames lighter and less susceptible to "voids."
Giant Bicycle's TCR Advanced is made from their most sophisticated FormulaOne materials. This bicycle is Giant's lightest and strongest composite frame. Their Composite Time Trail uses the same FormulaOne design techniques that are used in making the TCR Advanced to form the one-piece composite frame. They add additional composite to create the teardrop and bladed shapes of the main frame's tubes. This increases the bike's lateral strength, thereby improving its torsional stiffness for all-out acceleration performance.
