| Anyone can put on a shirt and pants; it's how a person accessorizes that sets him apart. It's the same with game accessories. What's in the box when you get home from the store is enough to get started (or nearly enough, depending on the system), but to really kick the system into high gear, a person will need a few key game accessories. If purchasing a Nintendo GameCube or a Sony PlayStation 2, the first thing needed will be a memory card. The memory card allows the player to save games, which is a necessity. Whichever system a person purchases, additional controllers will likely also need to be added. Each system comes with only one, which may be fine. However, many titles include multi-player options, so if a person wants to play live with his friends, these essential game accessories are a must. Those items take care of the basics. Other items aren't strictly necessary but can help to make the gaming experience more pleasurable. On the market there are a plethora of racing titles (like the Gran Turismo series for the PS2); for these games, a racing wheel becomes indispensable. Or to play an arcade hit like Dance Dance Revolution, the player will need a dance pad. Although this won't affect gameplay, in order to play DVD movies on the Microsoft Xbox, a special remote control must be purchased. The reason for this is that to play DVD-video, certain licensing fees must be paid. Microsoft opted to bundle these fees into the purchase of the remote rather than the Xbox itself in order to keep the price down. |
