While DVD sales have taken off in the past decade, many people still enjoy VHS tapes. In fact, the booming DVD market may actually benefit VHS aficionados, because prices for VHS tapes--especially bulk VHS tapes--have dropped considerably. Bulk VHS tapes are still widely available from retailers like eBay.

Because more people have switched to the DVD format, they may decide to sell off their entire collections of VHS tapes to earn a little extra cash. In many cases, these bulk VHS tapes are in relatively good condition. Many of these bulk VHS tapes have had only one owner and still include the original sleeves. Plus, with careful handling, a VHS tape can still produce good picture and sound for decades.

If you search around, you can even find bulk VHS tapes in their original shrink wrapping. Seeing as a new VHS tape can still run as much as $50, finding a cache of bulk VHS tapes online can save the purchaser hundreds of dollars. Plus, many older VHS tapes are out of print, which can make them valuable collector's items.

Bulk VHS tapes can be like a hidden treasure--you can find a whole variety of movies at a low price. Although the DVD revolution continues to gain steam, there are some rare, older, or simply ignored movies out there that haven't been transferred to the DVD format yet. This makes finding them on VHS the only option. Also, enthusiastic collectors often want to find every version of their favorite movies out there, and search for them on VHS, DVD, and even Betamax!
