PDAs and handheld devices have become almost commonplace in the
business world. While many think of Dell as a great company that makes
excellent PCs and notebooks, some are not aware that they have a
comprehensive line of handheld devices as well. The Dell Axim handheld
is comparable to some of the top PDAs on the market, and it costs
significantly less than some of the more popular brands.
The Dell Axim absolutely does not skimp on the extras. The Axim comes
loaded with Windows Mobile 5.0, which includes Windows Media Player 10.
It features 64 megabytes of SDRAM and 256 megabytes of Flash memory
(ROM). Additionally, the Axim Dell has a 624 MHz Intel Xscale processor.
The Axim Dell has a touch-sensitive transflective 16-bit color LCD
screen that features over 65,000 colors with a 480 by 640 resolution. It
comes with an Intel 2700G multimedia graphics accelerator and 16
megabytes of video memory. This tiny powerhouse is expandable, too,
coming with a Compact Flash Type II card slot, and a Secure Digital/SDIO
Now/MMC memory card slot.
Always striving to make their products as versatile as possible, Dell
has outfitted their Axim with integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth wireless
components so that you can hook up to a wide variety of wireless
devices. The Axim also has a headset jack and it supports VoIP speech
recognition technologies. If you need to take "voice notes," the Axim
also comes with a full duplex microphone so that you can simply use it
as a digital recorder.
