Option1 : Already have an inventory file.Halfvalue accepts virtually any format for inventory files. We have facilities to upload ABE Homebase format inventory and can also develop a customized application to upload your inventory of any other format within our system at no extra cost to you. However, two fields are required for each book record within a file. These are ISBN number, and selling price.
Predated and rare books without ISBN numbers are not available for sale on halfvalue.com at this time. Books without ISBN numbers will automatically be discarded by the inventory loader at the time of file upload.
In case of items other than books, please use the ASIN numbers as the value for ISBN.
Note that Excel, tab-delimited or character-delimited files MUST include the names of each field on the first line of the file and in the order in which those fields appear for the actual listings in the subsequent lines.
Once you have submitted your file, we will process your file to be uploaded to our system. We might need to contact you via email for clarification if there are any problems encountered. Please note that processing customized files may take 3 to 5 business days.
If you would like your inventory files to be processed in real time, you can prepare the inventory file for Halfvalue as described below.
Option 2 : Create Halfvalue.com Inventory Loader Format File For Real Time Processing & Uploading
BUILDING YOUR SPREADSHEET

To use the Inventory Loader, you need to collect your listing information in the proper format. We recommend using a basic Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with specific Bulk Loader headers. AOL users will need to open the Excel files using freeware such as the Aladdin Expander for PC or StuffIt Expander for Macintosh--both are available at:
http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/index.html.
POPULATE YOUR SPREADSHEET
The Inventory Loader works best with Excel, but it will work with other database programs as well. If you would like to use a program other than Excel, you'll need to build your own template using the data fields. Data field names must be exactly as shown below (in the same order from left to right as top to bottom below), in lower-case letters with no spaces or quotation marks. Make sure to include the dashes in any multi-word field names.
Explanation of Required Fields:
| FIELD NAME | DESCRIPTION |
| ISBN (String) | The 10 digit ISBN number of the book. / ASIN number of all other items |
| Condition (Numeric) | 0(brand new), 1(like new), 2(Very good), 3 (good), 4(Acceptable) |
| Comments (String) | A description of the item. Length is limited to 250 characters |
| Price (Numeric) | Listings requires a list price (per item), in U.S. dollars (no dollar sign). |
| Quantity (Numeric) | The number of items you have to sell. |
SAVE YOUR SPREADSHEET
While you're creating your template, save it as a standard XLS (.xls) document (or in the format preferred by your database program). When your template is complete, you can also save it in tab delimited text file format Within Excel :
1. File > Save As
2. Select [Text (Tab Delimited)] from the 'Save As Type' dropdown menu within Save As Dialog
3. Click [Save] button to save your file. The file you upload should be a .txt extension tab delimited text file.
