Pokemon Anime Series

The Pokemon anime series and films are a meta-series of adventures separate from the canon that most of the Pokemon video games follow (with the exception of Pokemon Yellow, a game based loosely on the anime storyline). The anime follows the quest of the main character, Ash Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) a Pokemon Master in training, as he and a small group of friends travel around the fictitious world of Pokemon along with their Pokemon partners.

The Pokemon TV show is currently airing, but the first four seasons are also available on DVDs and/or VHS. Here are the first episodes of each season to get you started (though you will want to watch them in order). Pokemon - I Choose You! Pikachu! (Vol. 1), Pokemon - The Adventures in the Orange Islands Vol 1, Pokemon - The Johto Journeys - A Brand New World (Vol. 39), Pokemon Johto League Champions, Volume 1, Pokemon Master Quest 1: DVD Collectors Box Set, and Pokemon Advanced, Vol. 1 - A Ruin with a View. There have also been a lot of movies that fit in with the TV show, but they can also be watched by themselves. Basically, there is one movie at the end of each TV season beginning with Pokemon the First Movie - Mewtwo vs. Mew, and about every year another:

Pokemon is one popular television show, and even still, remains strong and there are always new episodes coming out. Here are a few of our favorite episode collections. Pokemon - Fashion Victims (Vol. 9) and Pokemon - The Sisters of Cerulean City (Vol. 3) are two of the best ones out there, although you might want to start with Pokemon - I Choose You! Pikachu! (Vol. 1), seeing as it is the first 3 episodes.
