| UPDATED WEEKLY LAST UPDATE: 1/15/05 I've written 2 listmania lists before entitled, "Greatest Movies" or "Quality Movies, no crap". Yet looking back on them I realized one glaring problem. A number of the movies on these lists, I have not even seen yet. To this day I have yet to watch a single Western, I have seen parts of the Godfather triology but never the whole thing, and I have not gotten around to watching some of the greats that should probably be on this: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Seven Samurai, any Alfred Hitchcock, any War movies (I would suggest Deer Hunter though, I saw the last half of it once, Russian Roulette scene is amazing), and any of the old classics from the thirties-sixties. I know I am forgetting many others, but those are the one's that stick out in my mind. Now I bring you my list of the greatest movies I have seen. The List 1. 'Pulp Fiction (Collector's Edition)' - This was the movie that began my movie obsession, dialogue is close to unbeatable. 2. 'True Romance (Unrated Director's Cut) (Two-Disc Special Edition)' - It's a love story, kind of, only with guns, drugs, and Sicilians, One of the great endings in my mind (in the hotel, not on the beach). 3. 'Boyz N the Hood (2-Disc Anniversary Edition)' - Last 20 minutes are so powerful, but its the build up to it that makes it so powerful. 4. 'American History X' - Last 5 minutes are so powerful, build up makes it even more powerful than Boyz N The Hood. Not to mention one of the most bonechilling scenes I have ever seen. 5. 'Reservoir Dogs' - If you haven't noticed yet, I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantino. 6. 'Fight Club' - Smart, intelligent dialogue, good movie all the way through. 7. 'The Usual Suspects (Special Edition)' - Must-see ending. 8. 'Memento (Limited Edition)' - Interesting way to show movie, have to watch second time to fully comprehend. 9. 'Kill Bill, Volume 2' - Less of the action from the first one, more story. 10. 'Kill Bill, Volume 1' - Action packed, but not mindless action. Just flat out cool. 11. 'Scarface (Widescreen Anniversary Edition)' - Brian DePalma's take on the Howard Hughes movie. Al Pacino at his best. Great crime movie. 12. 'Snatch (Special Edition)' - Guy Ritchie's second film, hilarious. 13. 'The Boondock Saints' - Action, funny, and a very powerful scene towards the end. 14. 'Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (Ws)' - Guy Ritchie's debut movie, funny. 15. 'Fargo (Special Edition)' - Coen Brothers at their best, love the Minnesota accents. Great thriller, where one thing after another goes wrong. 16. 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Special Edition)' - One of the funniest movies of all-time. 17. 'Halloween (Divimax 25th Anniversary Edition)' - The greatest slasher movie ever. 18. 'Requiem for a Dream (Director's Cut)' - Very intense movie about drugs. Makes you want to never do drugs. 'Bottle Rocket' - Wes Anderson's debut movie, funny, and heart touching. 21. 'A Clockwork Orange' - Stanley Kubrick, very interesting. 22. 'The Street Fighter' - Kung-Fu movie with Sonny Chiba, such a bad ass. Update 1: Added- Fargo at 15. Dropped- 50. From Dusk Till Dawn - Only on here for the potential it had, was a great movie up until the vampires. If it weren't for the vampires, probably would be in top ten. God damn vampires. Update 2: Added Requiem For a Dream at 18. Dropped- Five Deadly Venoms- While it is a Kung Fu movie with a somewhat good plot, the Kung Fu action just wasn't good enough. |
