| One of many recommendation
pages I am making... divided
into categories. Collect the
whole set.
All about
movies.
Yes, the movie page, I feel
quite strongly about movies so
this definitely won't be hard to
fill up... yes, have a lil faith
in this guide, I won't steer you
wrong. Definitely recommended
for movie lovers who don't run
for the hills when they see
black and white or subtitles.
There is a very good chance as
you look at this last that
perhaps you have seen most of
the movies, that is good,
because you know if you like
them, you'll probably like the
others. Anyway, on to the show.
It's Classic
Yes, taking it back old
school. I won't lie, some people
will hate me because I don't
really like alot of classics....
not very much for to kill a
mockingbird or gone with the
wind or any of that.... but,
there are some I find great.
-'Citizen
Kane': This is THE classic,
and it actually deserves the
praise? It certainly does,
however, this is not one of my
top 10 movie choices or
anything. It is entertaining and
different, worth having
definitely.
-'Lawrence
of Arabia (Limited Edition)':
Same with above, don't be afraid
of these because they're older,
quite enjoyable and memorable.
-'Seven
Samurai - Criterion Collection':
Kurosawa is awesome... I love
this movie, definitely my
favorite of these old timers. It
is in Japanese, it's the classic
of Japanese filmmaking. Also
check out other Kurosawa's, one
of the best directors of all
time.
Ok, forget
sections
Meh, I realize it's way to
hard to figure out how to divide
things up so I'm just gonna go
nuts and start listing. Bear
with me.
-'Reservoir
Dogs': Such a great movie,
definitely in my top 10. I
simply love Quentin Tarantino,
lovely music choice, Mr. Blonde
is one of my favorite characters
of all time. Torture scene is
priceless.
-'Pulp
Fiction (Collector's Edition)':
More brilliance, Reservoir Dogs
and Pulp Fiction deserve to be
in every collection. Don't live
without seeing these!
-'Requiem
For A Dream/PI (Two Pack)':
Snuck in a two for one.
Aronofsky is one of the best new
directors on the scene, these
two movies are must sees.
Requiem for a Dream deserves to
be shown in school.
-'Stanley
Kubrick Collection': I'm
cheating again... just saving
space. You only really need
2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr.
Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange,
The Shining, and Full Metal
Jacket. These are so amazing, it
hurts... it really does.
-'Fight
Club': Possibly my favorite
movie??? If you know me, you
know I love Chuck Palahniuk, and
this movie represents him
perfectly... everything about
this movie rocks except some of
the retarded fans who miss the
whole point.
-'Seven
(New Line Platinum Series)':
My other favorite David Fincher
movie... notice Brad Pitt, one
of my favorite actors, slightly
underrated for being all good
looking and stuff. This movie
rocks.
-'Boogie
Nights (New Line Platinum
Series)': Woah, don't just
notice that this is a movie
about porn and look past it,
this is one of the best movies
around by one of the best
directors around. Paul Thomas
Anderson is quite enjoyable.
-'Magnolia
(New Line Platinum Series)':
The magic of PT Anderson
continues. This movie is a
marathon of brilliant acting.
These movies are strange, but in
a very good way.
-'Punch-Drunk
Love (Two Disc Special Edition)
(Superbit Collection)':
Again with the PT, this is Adam
Sandler's best movie by far...
but I really am not into his
other stuff that much. I love
this movie, it's just
gorgeous... can definitely
relate to it.
-'Raging
Bull': Scorsese deserves any
praise he gets... this movie is
a great ride. Deniro does so
many good movies, it's almost
scary.
-'Taxi
Driver (Collector's Edition)':
copy and paste?
-'Goodfellas':
and paste again? Ray Liotta is
great by the way.
-'Narc
(Widescreen Edition)': ..as
proved by this great movie.. not
to be missed, it's amazing what
you can do with such a small
budget.
-'The
Godfather DVD Collection':
Someone could possibly murder me
if this wasn't on the list.
-'Apocalypse
Now Redux': Since I'm
already on the Coppola, I'm a
big fan of war movies.
-'The
Virgin Suicides': It runs in
the family, this is just a good
movie.. not sure what else to
say about it.
-'Amélie':
And for no reason, I'm gonna do
a few of my favorite foreign
films. Also one of my favorite
love movies.. aww. French.
-'Brotherhood
of the Wolf': A GREAT
action/horror film. Also in
French.
-'Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon': Also
great action.. but also alot
deeper. In Mandarin?
-'The
Matrix': Back to a lil
stylish action.... this movie
brought alot to action movies,
also has some of the greatest
art concepts I've seen in recent
years.
-'Leon
- The Professional (Uncut
International Version)':
Must see action movie... a
classic, unforgettable, Luc
Besson is quite good.
-'Platoon
(Special Edition)': Some
more war movies might be nice.
This one must be a classic, they
play it on AMC everyday it
seems. You should see it.
-'Saving
Private Ryan': Will be
classic war movie from Senior
Spielbergo. Very nicely done,
allstar cast.
-'Black
Hawk Down (Ws Dub Sub Dol)':
Alright, this should be good for
war movies for now... this is
the most recent one, and
definitely a good one. Ridley
Scott knows movies.
-'Blade
Runner (The Director's Cut)':
Classic SciFi movie by Mr.
Scott, with the wonderful
Harrison Ford, how can you not
love this movie?
-'Gladiator':
This is alright, more than
alright, but I'm getting tired.
-'Alien':
Capping off my Ridley Scott
section is a true classic. In
space noone can hear you scream.
The Giger movie, brilliant.
-'Aliens
(Special Edition)': The
second one definitely kept the
good streak going... the last
couple weren't quite as great
tho. Oh yea, enter Jimmy
Cameron.
-'T2
- Extreme DVD': Arnold will
always be the Terminator.. true
classic action movie. Other
Arnie picks, Predator and Total
Recall.
-'Lock
Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
(Ws)': Don't let me forget
Guy Ritchie... let's all pretend
Swept Away never happened. This
movie is funny and I love
it...and and I dunno.
-'Snatch
(Special Edition)': More Guy
Ritchie, plus teh Brad Pitt.
-'12
Monkeys': Who doesn't like
crazy Brad.
-'Brazil
- Criterion Collection':
Transition, Gilliam.
-'Fear
and Loathing in Las Vegas -
Criterion Collection': He
just does good stuff.
-'L.A.
Confidential': No
transition.. but I need to tie
up some loose ends, good stuff.
-'American
History X': Ed Norton is
always solid, this is a powerful
movie.
-'The
Silence of the Lambs (Widescreen
Special Edition)': Needs to
be here.... mhmm.
-'Memento
(Limited Edition)': .movie
good a Such
-'Clerks
(Collector's Edition)': 37?!
Kevin Smith does great comedies.
-'Adaptation
(Superbit Collection)':
Hahaha... Spike Jonze you crazy
bastard... don't forget Being
John Malkovich.
-'The
Royal Tenenbaums (The Criterion
Collection)': Wes Anderson
is quite good, yet still not as
good as PT Anderson. Check out
Rushmore and Bottlerocket tho, I
love Rushmore.
-'The
Usual Suspects (Special
Edition)': I am Keyser Soze.
-'Scarface':
Say hello to my little friend!
-'Die
Hard (Five Star Collection)':
One of the best action movies
ever.
-'American
Beauty': Mhmm... I'll write
more at some future time.
-'Donnie
Darko': Almost forgot poor
lil Donnie Darko, a great movie
to see.
Maybe you'll find your new
favorite movie from this list,
or maybe you'll just look at it
and go... this sucks, or this
person has good taste... blah
blah blah.. then move on to
something else.... doesn't
really matter. I should be
drawing right now anyway.. shhh.
