Hello everybody, My name is Sara Hackett, I’m a wife, mother, writer, reader, traveler and lover of Jack Priest who wrote 'Ragged Man', 'Gecko' and 'Night Witch'. I was born in Paris, France, because my father was working for American Express over there. We moved to Huntington Beach in Southern California when I started junior high. I'm a brunette with hazel eyes and I'm fair-skinned, so I sunburn beautifully. I'm also five foot two and weigh a hundred and fifteen pounds. I have a B.S. degree in Art Education from Chadron State College in Nebraska. After College I moved to Kansas City on the Kansas side, where I've worked as a candy striper, a mechanic's assistant, a waitress and a few other jobs too menial to mention. Many years ago I took a vacation to St. Martin in the Caribbean. And, in a bar there called the Soggy Dollar, I met Jack Priest. It was love at first sight. I've never looked back, never even thought of Kansas. Never been back. I have been back to California though, but I took Jack with me. We currently live in Reno with our son, Devon, two dogs, one cat and more stuffed animals than I care to mention. Facts about me: * I am an only child. It was probably better that way. * I can play the guitar. * I love buying shoes. * I used to be vegetarian, but then I stopped. * Americans think I'm French, Parisians think I'm Stupid. * When I was a kid, I was allergic to chocolate, cheese and milk. * I left home when I was 17 (when I started university). * Jack is forty-five minutes older than me. Some things that annoy me: * People with affected accents. * Grocery shopping during lunch, after work, or on weekends. * Fad diets. * Rough seas. * Snobs. * Pretentious foods. There's nothing wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich. * Bad customer service. * People that don't smile back at me. Some things I Love: * Jack Priest. * Good food, good wine, good friends. * Traveling and exploring. * Massages, especially by Jack Priest. * Bubble baths and face masks. * Long walks over rolling hills, preferably near the water. * The Caribbean. * The Simpsons. Why I made this Guide. I’d be dishonest if I didn’t tell that I want you to click on one of the thumbnails above and check out my husband’s books. Please do that, especially if you like reading scary stories. Ancient Aborigine Horror Comes to Life 'Ragged Man' is about Rick and Ann an American couple who are retired. They take up off road racing, you know, when you race those four wheel drive cars cross the desert or through the wilds of Borneo, like they do in the Camel Trophy. Anyway, they are in a race in the Australian desert when their car breaks. While they are trying to fix it their lives are changed forever, because of an old Aboriginal couple they meet. The Aborigines soon die, but not before blessing our racers with their good spirits, however unknown to them there is an ageless, malevolent spirit from the Dreamtime who comes back to America with them who means to do them harm. This spirit kills Ann and just about all Rick’s friends, then it captures a child Rick loves and he has to face it down or the child will die. Ancient Maori Horror Comes to Life 'Gecko' is about Jim Monday, a Southern California real estate developer, whose wife is leaving him for a man who is after Monday’s money. The man, an evil doctor named Kohler, is not only just plain bad, but he controls an ancient horror out of New Zealand’s Maori folklore and he is bent on using it to crush Monday. And if this isn’t bad enough, Monday’s mind is taken over by a young woman far away in New Zealand, who is being held captive and is going to be murdered. Monday, who thinks he might be going crazy, has to save his wife from the evil doctor, then he as to save the woman in New Zealand, but there are a couple complications he has to face along the way, like a murder charge, a gecko the size of a cow and oh yeah, did I forget to mention that he’s afraid to fly. Ancient Caribbean Horror Comes to Life 'Night Witch' is about a young girl, her best friend Arty and a soucouyant. A soucouyant is sort of like a vampire. She’s an old lady who can shapechange, but before she does that she has to shed her skin and sort of turn into a ball of fire. She is straight out of Southern Caribbean folklore and I have lived a few years in Trinidad, so I know all about her. Plus, my husband wrote the book, so I really know all about her. The young girl is Carolina Coffee, the daughter of divorced parents. Her father is a petty their and while in Trinidad on vacation, he broke into a soucouyant’s house while she was out doing her shapechanging, bloodsucking thing. He stole a locket, however unknown to him the locket contains a magic potion that allows the old hag to live forever. He goes home to California and gives the locket to Carolina. The soucouyant comes to California to get it back. She’s a bad, ugly, mean as nails thing and she really wants that locket. Carolina and Arty elude the monster and have to somehow defeat it. And the children have to do it all on their own, because, as you know, nobody believes a child when she says she’s seen a monster. Okay, yes my husband wrote the books, but I still think they are super stories that you’ll just love.
