I don’t have much room to tell you how much I like the books below, because I was a little long winded this week in talking about them and Amazon only gives us 1,500 words here. So I’m going to begin and end with I really, really like the three books I’m writing about. Also the books in the list below are wonderful too and I sincerely hope you find something here that you like, like some super stories that just might steal your sleep and keep you up through out the night. My best to everybody, Lenore Logan Struggling Writer and Actress A Book I Couldn't Put Down! 'Scorpion', by Jack Stewart DEA agent Bill Broxton has been given an impossible task, protect the Prime Minister of Trinidad from an assassin. Impossible, because Prime Minister Ramsingh doesn't want American protection. Protection he needs, because he is cracking down against the Salizar drug cartel, who have been using Trinidad as a staging area to get their drugs into the United States. The American government has found out that the Salizars have hired the Scorpion, an international assassin, to finish off Ramsingh, but the PM believes his minister of justice can handle his security better than the Americans. However, unknown to Ramsingh, Justice Minister Chandee is thick as thieves with the Salizars and is the man behind hiring the Scorpion, who is actually the daughter of the American Ambassador and also the woman Broxton loves. And there you have the makings of a book that I just couldn't put down. Mr. Stewart had me from page one when the bomb went off in the plane. What a harrowing opening. I felt like I was right there on that wild and dangerous ride. I thought I'd faint when the oxygen masks came down. What a story, I can't wait to start Mr. Stewarts’ next one, HURRICANE. But hold on! I don't have to wait, I have it right here. I can start it right now. Oh, well, no sleep for Lenore this weekend. Don't Expect the Obvious 'Along Came a Spider (Alex Cross Novels)' by James Patterson We first meet Alex Cross at the scene of a horrific murder, a mother, daughter and child have been slaughter in a seeming senseless attack. Then when Cross and his pal Sampson are taken off the case they decide to investigate it on their own time, which isn't going to be easy, because Cross is assigned to investigate the kidnapping of two children from a private school. One of the children is found dead, there is slim hope for the other. However, a ransom has been demanded and paid. The kidnapper killer is found, but he says he didn't ask for the money and he never received it. It is possible the police have arrested the wrong man? From here the story twists and turns as we eventually find out who the kidnapper is and along the way Cross falls in love with a beautiful secret service agent as he prepares to confront a psychopathic murderer. This is the first of the Alex Cross books and it is a terrific read. Truly a book you cannot put down. Mr. Patterson gives us great characters in just a few word of description. I particurally liked Mama Nana Cross's grandmother) and the pearls of wisdom she peppers her grandson with. If you haven't read James Patterson yet, it's time to start. Two Brave Women are Running Scared 'Running Scared' by Ken Douglas Joey Sapphire is sailing around the world with her husband Mick. Currently they are in Trinidad. Joey is alone with the boat while Mick has flown home to visit his parents for Christmas. Joey attends a Christmas party and wakes up next to a strange man on a strange boat. In just seconds she figures out the man is dead and that she's in big trouble, because they hang murderers in Trinidad. She weighs the body down, drops it overboard and thinks she's safe, but the killer knows about her. She barley gets time to wonder if she got away with the body disposal when Nina Brava, a young Brazilian woman shows up at her boat claiming to be Mick's new wife. It appears dear hubby hadn't gone home at all, instead he'd flown south and found a new bride without bothering to tell the old one. Nina tells Joey about how Mick was chased out of their honeymoon bed by a rough criminal type and Joey tells Nina about the dead man in Davy Jones's locker. Together, they figure out Mick is up to some kind of no good. What they don't know is that the killer of the guy who is now fish food has been hired by the American First Lady because Mick is blackmailing her daughter and the killer believes one or perhaps both of them may be in on it. Then Joey is arrested for drug smuggling and Nina is attacked. Joey escapes, Nina recovers, but ex-CIA types are hot on their trail and the girls are terrified. And thus begins the desperate journey of Joey and Nina as they flee into the United States to try and save the life of the President's daughter and to do that they have to get to her before Mick does, but can they live long enough to get there in time. I especially liked the two strong women in this story and how they dealt with the guys chasing them. Nina is one heck of a character. Joey is something special too. My list of super stories that will have you reading all night long. Remember nothing steals sleep away better than a good book.
