'The Godfather DVD Collection' This
includes the greatest movie of all time
in my opinion. The Godfather is my
favorite movie. The acting is amazing.
Whether it's Al Pacino, James Caan,
Robert Duvall, or Marlon Brando. It
includes my favorite scene in cinematic
history as well. When Vito Corleone has
to look at his son's corpse, Brando's
face is great. "Look at how they
massacred my boy!" Godfather Part II is
almost as good and Part III is good,
just not at the level of the first two.
Also, the extras are very good.
'A Clockwork Orange' This is a
classic. Very violent but stylish and
funny. The narration is great as is
Malcolm McDowell. A great message
overall.
'Pulp Fiction (Collector's Edition)'
Very funny and cool. Travolta brought
back his career but it's Samuel L.
Jackson who steals the movie. Everything
he does and says is either funny or just
riveting.
'Jaws (Widescreen Anniversary
Collector's Edition)' Very scary but
also an extremely well-acted movie.
Spielberg just created the perfect
suspenseful atmosphere.
'The Usual Suspects (Special Edition)'
An amazing script. This movie is very
thrilling and suspenseful and the ending
is perfect. Great acting by all of the
suspects.
'The Untouchables (Special Collector's
Edition)' A great crime film based
on the TV show. Costner delivers a good
performance but Sean Connery is
spectacular. Great shootout in the train
station at the end.
'The Shining' Kubrick created a very
scary movie here. Jack Nicholson
delivers a marvelous performance and is
funny and terrifying at the same time.
'Goodfellas (Two-Disc Special Edition)'
Classic almost on the level of The
Godfather. Liotta, De Niro, and Pesci
are all perfect and the story is great.
'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
(Two-Disc Special Edition)'
Nicholson is perfect and Nurse Ratched
is a great villain. The ending is
depressing but great.
Raging Bull - Classic black and white
boxing film with, in my opinion, the
best performances of Robert De Niro and
Joe Pesci's careers. Scorsese's
masterpiece.
Near-Classics
'The Sixth Sense (Vista Series)'
Scary but well written and acted. The
ending is a shocker and Willis is great.
'Forrest Gump' Very good story and
Tom Hanks is very funny and good.
'Once Upon a Time in America (Two-Disc
Special Edition)' Very underrated. A
great story that spans half a decade.
Nearly 4 hours long however, it's a
good, but flawed epic.
'Scarface (Widescreen Anniversary
Edition)' Al Pacino delivers a great
over-the-top performance and the
dialogue and action are very
entertaining.
'Kill Bill, Volume 1' Very good
story and Tarantino made a very stylish
movie.
'Kill Bill, Volume 2' See above.
'Reservoir Dogs' Very entertaining.
Funny and good story since you never
actually see the heist.
'Seven (New Line Platinum Series)'
One of the best detective stories. Great
surprise ending.
'The Great Escape' Very fun and
amusing look at the escape attempts of
prisoners of war.
'The Adventures of Indiana Jones
(Raiders of the Lost Ark/The Temple of
Doom/The Last Crusade) - Widescreen'
All of them are fun but Raiders of the
Lost Ark is the best.
Rashomon - Excellent Japanese film about
how one story can be told in such
different ways.
Silence Of The Lambs - Great, eerie film
with classic performances from Anthony
Hopkins and Jodie Foster.
Great Movies
'Die Hard (Five Star Collection)'
Great action and fun. Dialogue is good
and a great villain.
'8 Mile (Widescreen Edition)' Eminem
is great and the battles are thrilling
and compelling.
'Unbreakable (Vista Series)' Very
dark story with good acting from Willis
and Jackson.
'Signs (Vista Series)' Great story
and the basement scene is very
suspenseful.
'Monty Python and the Holy Grail
(Special Edition)' Very funny
British humor.
'Clerks (Collector's Edition)' Funny
story and great dialogue.
'The Matrix' The stunts are
mindblowing. The shootout scene in the
lobby is unforgettable.
'The Fugitive (Special Edition)' A
great ride as Ford is chased by Tommy
Lee Jones. Ford gives a great
performance.
'The Birds (Collector's Edition)'
Definatley suspenseful but not scary
anymore since it's dated.
'Training Day' Denzel Washington is
funny and daunting but still great.
'Donnie Brasco (Special Edition)'
Good true story and Depp and Pacino are
terrific.
'Finding Forrester' Connery is very
good and the story is well told.
'Traffic' A bit long but each story
is equally compelling.
'A.I. Artificial Intelligence
(Widescreen Special Edition)' Very
long but the story is good and Osment
and Law make it interesting.
Rain Man - Drags in some areas but the
perfect performances from Tom Cruise and
Dustin Hoffman make this film an
award-winner.
Entertaining Movies
'The Matrix Reloaded (Widescreen
Edition)' Not as good as it's
predecessor but the chase scene is
stunning.
'What Lies Beneath' Ford is great
and it's actually pretty scary.
'Friday (New Line Platinum Series)'
Very funny movie with Ice Cube and Chris
Tucker.
'Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (Ws)'
Good story. Likea British Quenting
Tarantino movie.
'The Others' Scary and Kidman is
great but not very memorable.
'Saw (Widescreen Edition)' It's
great to see such an original movie
nowadays. Good concept and great ending.
'Frantic' Interesting and Ford is
good but it sags at times.
'Shrek (Two-Disc Special Edition)'
Very funny movie.
'Austin Powers in Goldmember (Infinifilm
Widescreen Edition)' As good as the
first two and the opening is hilarious.
'Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me
(New Line Platinum Series)' Might be
the best one. Some very funny moments.
'Barbershop (Ws Dub Spec Sub Dol)'
Ice Cube is good and it's a nice story.
Run Lola Run - Very entertaining
MTV-style German film in which the
titular character must race the clock to
save her boyfriend's life.
OK Movies
'K-19 - The Widowmaker' Ford is good
but it's boring.
'Presumed Innocent' See above.
The Meaning of Life - Worst Monty Python
movie. Laughs are inconsistant.
Head of State - Funny but Rock and
Bernie Mac are better.
Billy Madison - Sort of funny.
Rules of Engagement - Decent story.
Jones and Jackson are good.
Garbage
There's no reason to supply links for
these clunkers that somehow found their
way into my collection. Whether it was a
gift or a bad decision, the following
movies are technically mine.
Beverly Hills Ninja - Farley isn't
very funny here.
Matrix Revolutions - What a
disappoinment.
Hollywood Homicide - Ford's OK but
Hartnett and the story are weak.
Planet of the Apes (Remake) - I don't
even have to say anything.
Television Shows
Family Guy Seasons 1-3 - Very Funny
'Chappelle's Show - Season 2' Funny
Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The
Untold Story - Not as good as the TV
show but it has it's laughs.
Music
'Kanye West - College Dropout: Video
Anthology' College Dropout is great.
'Jay Z - Fade to Black' Nice
recap/conclusion to his illustrious
career. |
