I have read other guides and product reviews about how much babies like being in their Carseats...how "happy" they are to be in their Carseats. Rarely do I ever find a review that has been written by a parent whose child endured a car accident and reported on how the car seat performed in the crash. This is one of those rare reviews. On April 4, my 14 month old daughter and I were in a very serious car accident. We were hit head-on on the freeway while traveling speeds of 65+ mph. I was seriously hurt, my daughter in her Evenflo Titan car seat was not. She did suffer serious whiplash (which, the emergency workers informed us, would have happened in any car seat), but the five-point seat belt held her firmly but gently enough to prevent any internal damage. Despite a second side-impact hit on her side of the car, she did not suffer any head injuries or damage from that side. I think the best indicator of how great a car seat isn't how comfortable a child seems to be, or how pretty the seat is, but how safe it is in the event of an accident. Luckily, my daughter was both comfortable in her seat, and was protected in the accident. We're so lucky we bought this seat, and we'll buy another one to replace the one from the crash. |
