Although there are already some very good So You’d Like To’s out there on Buffy, I thought I’d add my own in commemoration of the upcoming last original episode.

The Series
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete First Season' - Tidbit – SMG was originally considered for the Cordelia role and had to audition over and over again in order to get the Buffy role. And now, who could ever imagine anyone else as Buffy! Also, only 12 episodes in Season 1, which is the most episodic of the seasons but still has GREAT writing.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Second Season' - Season 2 starts in on one of Joss’s great story arcs, this one involving Buffy and Angel, and boy is it a doozy! GREAT season that goes out with a bang!

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Third Season' - Senior year and the introduction of Faith, the other Slayer (since Buffy technically died from drowning at the end of Season 1, that activated Slayer Kendra who was introduced and also died in Season 2, which made way for the introduction of Slayer Faith in Season 3). Very fun season. But also heartbreaking since Buffy and Angel have to sacrifice their future together for the good of humanity.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Fourth Season' - First year of college and the introduction of yummy Riley!

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Fifth Season' - Season 5: The beginning of the downslide, as far as I'm concerned. Although there are still gems of episodes in here and Spike's resistant transformation into a love stuck puppy is priceless!!!!!

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Sixth Season' - The first season the contain episodes that actually made me go "Ick"...and not in a good way.

The Spin-Off
'Angel - Season One' - Angel may have had to leave Buffy, but at least he got his own series as a consolation. I really enjoyed this season.

'Angel - Season Two' - Pylea - What a GREAT idea!!! A medieval-style fantasyland populated by monsters and humans alike, and where Angel didn't burst into flames when exposed to the sunlight. As one reviewer states, "It shouldn't have worked, as hokey as it was... but it did, thanks to crack storytelling, sharp dialogue, and the sheer joy the actors unleashed." Amen!!!

'Angel - Season Three' - Hmmm. It was the best of years, it was the worst of years. Darla giving birth....now THAT was one of the most memorable moments in television history!!!! Cordy ascending, with Angel descending...a weak, unsatisfying and perplexingly out of left field season finale (even after understanding it more fully through the explanation given at the end of Season 4).

Scripts
For those of us who live for the great lines, these are priceless!

'Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Script Book Season One Vol. 1' - Episodes 1-6 of Season 1.
'Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Script Book Season One Vol. 2' - Episodes 7-12 of Season 1.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Script Book Season Two, Vol. 1' - Episodes 1-6 of Season 2.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Script Book: Season Two, Vol. 2' - Episodes 7-12 of Season 2.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Script Book Season 2, Vol. 3' - Episodes 13-17 of Season 2.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Script Book, Season Two, Volume 4' - Episodes 18-22 of Season 2.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Script Book, Season Three, Vol. 1' - Episodes 1-6 of Season 3.
'Buffy, The Vampire Slayer: The Script Book - Season Three, Volume 2' - Episodes 7-12 of Season 3.

Hopefully, more coming soon.

And let us not forget from whence this great story sprang...
'Joss Whedon: The Genius Behind Buffy' - Joss, the genius behind it all.

'Bite Me!: Sarah Michelle Gellar and Buffy the Vampire Slayer' - Gotta love THIS one! SMG bio, commentary on each show, mythic background, what more could you ask for!?

'Meet the Stars of Buffy the Vampire Slayer' - And yes it sounds like a teen magazine, but at least it covers the rest of the crew!

Critical and Philosophical Essays (COOL!!)
'Reading the Vampire Slayer : The Unofficial Critical Companion to Buffy and Angel (Tauris Parke Paperbacks)' - Critical Companion? Oh, yeah. "Demonstrating thematic arcs within seasons (and connecting seasons) and likening them to a classical music composition" (Feb 2002)

'Fighting The Forces: What's At Stake In Buffy The Vampire Slayer?' - Another great companion book with “essays on everything from gender and postmodern politics to the uses and purposes of fanfiction and fairy tales.” (April 2002)

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy: Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale (Popular Culture and Philosophy Series)' - And the most recent: Exploring the metaphors and metaphysics of the Buffyverse including topics such as “Buffy's role as a Slayer and her relationship to society; Faith's dalliance with good and evil; Angel's path to redemption; Buffy's self-destructive relationship with Spike; Willow's transformation from mousy teenager to Big Bad; etc.” Gotta love it! (March 2003)

'Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show' - "Why do we care so muchabout Buffy?....a succession of passionate, articulate, entertaining, informative, and sometimes-humorous pieces by professional writers who have no inhibitions about explaining what they love about the show--and what they hate." (Sept 2003)

'What Would Buffy Do : The Vampire Slayer as Spiritual Guide' - "Although the show is ambivalent about God's existence and ostensibly secular, it "offers a deep spiritual core that is based in ethical behavior." A "spiritually eclectic" canon on forgiveness, compassion, love, self-sacrifice and redemption guide the slayer and her friends in their battles with evil (supernatural, internal or otherwise)" (April 2004)
