so you're finally
tired of your N64, PSX, or Dreamcast?
but you don't know where to begin?
no problem. this guide will help
you decide exaclty which system
is best for you.
Lets start with the
'Sony PlayStation 2' (PS2):
this machine is immensly powerful,
the graphics are sharp and the gameplay
is stunning. the PS2 features an
enormous amount of games in it's
library, as it can play all of your
old
'Sony PS One Console - New Low Price'
discs. it also has the capability
of a DVD player, and unlike the
Xbox, does not require a $30 remote
to watch DVDs. also, the PS2 is
gifted with the most comfortable
and easy to use controlers of any
other game system on the market
the
'Dual Shock 2 Controller'. there
is only one major downfall to the
PS2; multiplayer functions are limited
to two players unless you buy a
'Multitap'(around $35). the
PS2 has games geared to all age
groups, so whether you're buying
your child his/her fist game system,
or just want to spend some spare
time playing by yourself, you can
be sure you'll get a good deal out
of purchasing a PS2. the bonus of
Online play allows you to play online
compatible games with virtually
anyone in the country.
My top 5 games for PS2 are:
1)'The
Simpsons: Hit and Run'
2)'Madden
NFL 2004'
3)'Red
Faction'
4)'Grand
Theft Auto 3'
5)'Gran
Turismo 3: A Spec'
the
'Nintendo Gamecube Console - Limited
Edition Platinum'(GC):
While the GC does not have the greatest
graphics, or the most extensive
library of games, it does stand
out above the others. it is able
to engage in four player multiplayer
games without the extra cost of
a multitap. it is very small and
portable, thus making those $100
5inch LCD screens actually practical
in the car for this system. the
games in its aresenal are mostly
aimed at the younger generation,
with fun characers like Mario and
Metroid that we have all grown to
love since the original NES. these
games are fun for the entire family.
because the gamecube is the fisrt
sustem made by Nintendo to use a
disc for a game, older titles from
previous systems are not compatible
with it. also the smaller discs
that the GC uses make it incapable
of playing DVD movies. the controler
is a bit more comlicated to use
than that of the PS2, but it is
still much mure comfortable that
that of the Xbox. intersetingly
the GC is the only system that lets
you connect with a handheld system:
the GBA. also the
'Game Boy Player' allows you
to play any game for any game boy
ever on you TV!
My top 5 games for the GC are:
1)'Super
Smash Bros. Melee'
2)'Metroid
Prime'
3)'Star
Wars: Rebel Strike - Rogue Squadron
III for GameCube'
4)'Game
Boy Player'
5)'The
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker'
Finally, The
'Xbox With S':
Xbox. this behemoth is the most
powerful when it comes to graphics
and computing power. the images
are clearer than you would think
possible in games like
'Project Gotham Racing 2' and
'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell'.
microsoft may be new to the console
industry, but games are not a problem,
since Microsoft is the leading company
in computer technology. with their
expertise in computers they were
able to adapt some of the latest
in computer technologyu into a vieo
game console. for instance, the
Xbox has a hardrive, meanig you
don't need those costly memory cards
to save your progress. the hardrive
also lets you play your own songs
from CDs you own as the soundtracks
for certain games. unfortunatly
the Xbox requires a $30 remote to
play DVDs. on the bright side it
also has online play ('HALO'),
like the PS2, only Xbox live allows
you to disguise your voice. the
games on the Xbox are not made for
everyone. there are few, if not,
no games geared towards younger
gamers. and by younger gamers i
mean kids younger than 10.
My top 5 games for Xbox are:
1)'HALO'
2)'Star
Wars: Knights of the Old Republic'
3)'NFL
Fever 2004 for Microsoft Xbox'
4)'Tom
Clancy's Splinter Cell'
5)'Fuzion
Frenzy'
The bottome Line is: the greates
system that fits just about anyone,
form hardcore gamer to just a little
kid, is the PS2. it has games for
everyone, and a great deal of them
too. next is the GC, wich also has
games for everyone, but does nothave
the extensiveness of the PS2 and
PSX library. lastly is the Xbox,
which is a good system, but is not
designed for just anyione, this
system is geared mainly to just
older gamers (i don't mean really
od, just more mature gamers) |
