  • I only dance once a month at a dance for swing dancing and practice a little but I don't want to pay a lot for a pair for shoes but yet I want a pair that work well and are comfortable.

  • I am interested in brands other than those that identify themselves as "dance shoes" (like Capezio). For exaple, I found a pair of Kenneth Cole pumps that look great and are sooooo comfortable; I can dance in them (vigorously) for hours. Any serious dancers out there with suggestions?

  • I'm taking these classes concurrently and I think I can do something better than sneakers. Any thoughts?

  • I've always danced in my dress shoes, whatever I had at home. Now I'm going to a wedding and am looking forward to buying a dress and shoes. I'd like to buy shoes that are usable for daily wear if possible; I'd rather not spring for dedicated dance shoes, as we don't get out too often (2 babies!) and are on a tight budget. Is there a certain style and sole that are good? Flats, I imagine, or a low heel, smooth soles...? (I have over a month to go, could possibly order online, prefer to try shoes in a store, will take any advice you offer!)

  • What is the importance about wearing swing shoes? What makes them different than just good looking shoes?

  • I am going tonight to a Swing Dance Class with my husband. Neither one of us have ever danced before, and we are looking forward to learning. Do I just wear my jeans, and sneakers? I mean, I want to be comfortable so I can move like I'm supposed to, without tripping over my feet, etc. HELP!!

  • Thanks to your advice, I did purchase brand new Mary Jane's from Aris Allen. Looking at the suede soles, I started thinking about walking on the street... aack! Is it normal to carry dancing shoes into a club and change inside? Or is the suede tougher than it looks, able to endure pavement outside? Thx.

  • Hey,I just bought some new character shoes for swing dancing. They have pure leather bottoms and slide very well and I am very excited about using them. Problem is the sides have black polish on them that is coming off on the floor. I tried rubbing alcohol on the sides to take the polish off and got alot of it but they still are having problems. Any ideas how to get the polish to stop leaving marks?Yes it is dry polish, all around the lip of the front of the shoe.

  • Hi, my roommate is really into swing dancing and has taken classes for years. Problem being, he doesn't have the shoes due to various reasons and his birthday is coming up in a couple days. I have $50 to spend and I don't know what is the general fashion that's of swing dancing. Out of all the shoes below $50 (the lesser cost the better) here, http://www.dancestore.com/z-mens-dance-shoes.asp , which one do you guys like? Oh, and he's a guy if you didn't catch my grammar usage in the beginning.

Is it normal to carry dancing shoes into a club and change inside? Or is the suede tougher than it looks, able to endure pavement outside? Thx.

  • Thanks to your advice, I did purchase brand new Mary Jane's from Aris Allen. Looking at the suede soles, I started thinking about walking on the street... aack! Is it normal to carry dancing shoes into a club and change inside? Or is the suede tougher than it looks, able to endure pavement outside? Thx.

  • I'm going to a drop-in swing class on wednesday and was wondering what shoes would be appropriate. The company just says to wear soft-soled shoes that won't scuff, and that dance shoes aren't necessary. Do you think Keds are OK?John De Witt ~ I actually have experience in dance, just not swing. I had to get rid of my jazz shoes because they were torn badly.

HELP!!

  • I'm looking for something comfortable, with arch support, fashionable is a plus! I'm new to dancing. Although we are mostly doing swing, I'm not fond of the look of swing shoes. Furthermore Id like something I can wear at my wedding. What are the best brands? Thanks!

Thx.
