I have seen professional home lighting systems in other peoples' homes that are quite impressive. I know the equipment cannot be expensive since they are mostly lights integrated into the ceiling, but installation must be pricey. How much does the whole thing usually go for? I have looked at Insteon, X-10 and HAI products, but would like to know if any can be installed in a home where the lighting is all pre-wired in the cieling (recessed lights)What I have is several rooms where my builder wired up to 10 wall/cieling lights to one switch. I would like to separate some of them and put dimmers on others. Is it possible to use the Insteon type relays to automate individual lights? I have a 600 VA computer UPS which has internal 12V 7.5Ah Dry Battery. I wish to remove that battery and connect a car battery (88Ah). Will it work for home lighting? i dont bother about backup time. I just want will it work or not? I am wiring a home theater and want to be able to dim the lights or have different setting for the canned and recessed lighting.........what would you suggest? Just wondering which to get first to make my home or garden!!! It's for some project so just give me some ideas on enviromental friendly lighting please. I want to be able to take professional pictures at home. I have a good camera and I have a big room and stuff. But how do you set up the lighting and make it look like a studio? Or make the pictures look like its from the studio?I love taking pictures :]Thankyouu In flashlights they make an incredible amount of light per battery, are very bright, and last about forever. Are they being adapted to use as household lighting? If so, when will they become widely available? Are they more efficient than and less polluting (mercury, manufacturing waste etc?) than CF's? Thank you very much for your input. I own a Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens/wide angle and macro lens. I have taken beautiful photos outside with natural light, but when it comes to taking nice portraits at home-it doesn't look right. I would like to take photographs and have Rembrandt lighting on my subjects. I would like the opinions of photographers/graphic designers-and anyone else that seriously knows. I own a Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens/wide angle and macro lens. I have taken beautiful photos outside with natural light, but when it comes to taking nice portraits at home-it doesn't look right. I would like to take photographs and have Rembrandt lighting on my subjects. I would like the opinions of photographers/graphic designers-and anyone else that seriously knows. Thank you very much for your input. I have seen professional home lighting systems in other peoples' homes that are quite impressive. I know the equipment cannot be expensive since they are mostly lights integrated into the ceiling, but installation must be pricey. How much does the whole thing usually go for? I have looked at Insteon, X-10 and HAI products, but would like to know if any can be installed in a home where the lighting is all pre-wired in the cieling (recessed lights)What I have is several rooms where my builder wired up to 10 wall/cieling lights to one switch.
