Peminism--aka "Filipina/American feminism," or "pinayism," is a specific form of feminist cultural criticism created for and by Filipina/Americans. It is rooted in both the struggle for decolonization as well as the larger woman of color/thirld world feminist movements. Although our history and presence has often been ignored by both American mainstream/hegemonic (white liberal) as well Asian American feminist movements, and sadly, by Filipino American male activists and theorists too, peminists today continue the struggle for the liberation of all Filipina/os around the world.
