| Ok, I'm just going to get right into it. I think psychedelic music is at its best when the music causes you to feel "something" without the use of drugs. These albums are the ones that make me feel that "something" This list will be divided into two parts - Past(60s and 70s) and Present (80s to today) Past 'Phaedra' - Ahh, Tangerine Dream. This band is one of the most spaced out bands. This album carries me into a state of pure relaxation. Listen to it in the dark. 'Tago Mago' - Tago Mago is the essential Can album. It is at times funky and at times minimalist but always psyched out 'Camembert Electrique' - The precursor to Gong's Radio Gnome Invisible Trilogy. Not the Spaciest one but worth a mention 'Flying Teapot' - Part 1 of the Trilogy. Really drugged out Jazz fusion with some spacey parts. Makes you feel like you're floating through space and stopping at different planets to rock out. (Bad metaphor, I know) 'Angel's Egg (Radio Gnome Invisible, Pt. 2)' - Not as spacey as Part 1 but it is just as enjoyable. 'You (Radio Gnome Invisible, Pt. 3)' - Part 3. The spaciest and best. Excellent fusion of Jazz and Psyche. Enjoyable at any time 'Axis: Bold As Love' - No brainer 'Electric Ladyland' - Another No Brainer 'Third' - Beautiful and drugged jazz that is a massive trip 'In Search of Space' - A Classic Present 'Jurassic Shift' - An interesting group that fuses a few different styles together but are always psychedelic 'Electric Heavyland' - The Acid Mothers Temple and all its variations are the name in present psychedelic music. Heavy and overwhelmingly trippy. Almost exhausting but enjoyable music from Japan 'Just Another Band from the Cosmic Inferno' - Even heavier than the aforementioned album. a 100% natural high '3' - More Music from Japan. Repetitive pulsating synth that I would recommend listening to in the dark |
