In case of Zombie invasion there are
a couple decisions to make quickly. Whether or not you are
going to stay and defend or run. If you run then I have
another guide for that. If you stay and defend you must
consider a few facts.
Is your house safe enough to withstand
an attack. If your house has too many windows, you may want
to consider moving locations to a house with less windows.
Houses with gates around them are a little safer than those
without. Zombies are geneally pretty slow and dim witted
so a small chain-linked fence could greatly reduce the amount
of zombies strolling around your house. Choosing a house
in the country is also a better idea. There are less people
out in the county so there will be less zombies, the city
will obviously have more.
Now that you've made your decision on
where to establish your base. First thing first, BOARD UP
THE WINDOWS. You should make a mental list of where Zombies
can get in, like any windows on the ground floor and basement.
You should cover all these windows as well as you can with
sturdy wood fastened tightly to not let any bodies through.
Nail/Screw them up fast and reinforce them later. Preexisting
bars over your windows are excellant for keeping intruding
Zombies out but if the invasion starts you may not have
enough time to safely put up bars. Wood is your next best
option. Remember there is tons of available wood in your
house. You can use tables, doors, old 2x4's, book shelves,
desk tops, cabinet doors, just remember that is has to be
sturdy. You will also need a fastening device. Hammer and
nails are always great choices. The next best thing would
be a cordless drill and screws. The cordless drill has its
pros and cons as well as the hammer and nails. The drill
will run out of juice eventually but the screws will hold
better than nails and can be taken out and reused easily.

Clutch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit''Grizzly
G2736 #8 x 3" Wood Screws, 1,000 pc.'. The hammer will
never run out of juice but the nails don't hold as well
as screws. You will have to "toe-nail" the nails to make
a better hold, which is driving the nails in at angles to
creat a stronger hold, but at the same time you use twice
as many nails to get the same hold as a screw.
'Stanley 51-946 22 Ounce AntiVibe Framing Hammer'
'DEWALT DCA16150 1-1/2" 20-Degree 16-Gauge Finish Nails
- 2,500 Box'. Either way is fine as long as you get
the windows covered. You also have to take into consideration
how much abuse can your barricade withstand. One Zombie
or One hundred Zombies. This will make all the difference.
If one Zombie knows that your in there more will come and
then your in trouble if your barricades are weak. Reinforce
all your nails and screws!
You must also have an escape route in
case your barricades collapse. There is always a chance
that your plan <A> may fail and so you must have back up
plan <B>, <C>. One of your plans must involve escaping the
house without too much trouble. So plan an escape route.
Getting up to an attic or on a roof are good options but
they will limit further options because they trap you. An
escape route should get you out and away from the house
safely. If you live in the city where the roofs are close
together you can get a ladder up to the roof and use it
as a bridge to hop from roof top to roof top.
'Xtend & Climb Telescoping Ladder'. Think about getting
to a vehicle to escape to a better location. Not a rag top
convertable! Unless you would like to get massacred.
Now that your all boarded up and have
an escape route the next thing to think about is food and
water. Ration your supplies, they may be your only food
for weeks. Eat refrigerated food first because that stuff
will go bad then move on the the canned goods and such.
Remember drink lots of water. You can survive off water
for a long time. There could be a chance that the tap water
is tainted with the zombie plague. Drink bottled water over
the tap water

If your phone is still working call the
police but chances are that they will come help you in such
a case of mass invasion is likely impossible. Call your
loved ones and makesure that they are taking the nessessary
precautions. If your power hasn't gone out yet turn on the
TV
'Coby CX-TV1 5" Black-and-White TV with AM/FM Tuner'
or radio
'Grundig FR200 Emergency Radio (Red)' and try to get
an emergency broadcast. Eventually there will be one letting
the people know what to do. If the power has gone out and
you have a generator this is the time to use it
'Buffalo Tools 2,000-Watt Portable Generator'. Use it
when you need it, otherwise conserve the gas.
Round up all of your candles and flashlights
'Kaito Self-Powered 5-LED Dynamo Hand Crank Rechargeable
Emergency Flashlight, KA5LED', your gonna need them.
If you have a gun get that and make sure it's loaded. If
you have others in the house with you make sure they have
a weapon; Kitchen knives, meat clevers, baseball bats, crowbars,
fire pokers, any type of large weapon will help. Remember
that Zombies feel no pain, you must destroy the brain.
Gather all nessessary supplies and have
them at hand, first aid
'120-Pc. First Aid Kit', blankets
'MPI Emergency Blanket', etc.. Don't forget the duct
tape!
'60 Yard Roll of 2in. Duct Tape'
Now that you have safely barracaded your
house and have food and weapons go around and reinforce
all of the windows again. Better safe than sorry.
If its cold outside and the power is
off then you should round up all the blankets and everyone
should sleep in the same room for safety reasons. Take turns
standing watch while everyone else sleeps. Remember to stay
awake no matter what, your team is depending on you for
their safety.
Next thing to do is to get rescued. Hopefully
the govenment or sometype of rescue group will form eventually
and you need to signal them some how and let them know your
in there. Christmas lights are good especially the blinking
ones, put them on your roof and spell out, "HELP". If the
power is out you can hook them up to car battery and they'll
work just fine. Stress flares are a bonus, just remember
to use them at night
'Multi-Flaring Tool/Gun Kit'.
While a rescue may not happen for a while
or even at all, you must keep watch for any planes overhead
or roaming zombie that has found some kink in your barracades
armour. This is vital to your survival, Zombies always attack
when its nice and calm. Keep a mental note of how many are
outside and if there are more showing up
'Bushnell 20x50 Super High-Powered Surveillance Binoculars'.
The last thing yet one of the most important
is to know when your postion is lost. You don't want to
go down defending an impossible situation and end up a quick
meal for the undead. Know when to abandon ship and move
to Plan <B>. If its just one or two zombies that break through
a window, kill them and secure the window. If the undead
are pouring in through the windows all over the house like
its their job, don't risk it, its probably time to move
on.
In the mean time enjoy each others company,
try not to fight amongst yourselves, and look out for your
fellow survivors because there is more to surviving than
just survival.
Good luck,
"Danse Macabre"
