The Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar is an amazing deal for a small-bodied guitar. The smaller profile is very playable for kids, has nice tone, and can be yours for chump change. It has a maple neck and rosewood fretboard and comes set up with Martin strings.The guitar is all laminate construction of some hardwood I have not identified (may be Ash, may be a Chinese hardwood I know nothing about). And this brings us to the sound. It is not the best. It sounds better picked fingerstyle (which I teach) than strummed with a pick. The one I have kept I have strung in "Nashville" tuning, and it is fun to hammer around on strung up that way.
