| 2-Year Extended Warranty for Kindle (6 Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation) |
|
Product Details For starters, this is not a warranty from Amazon - it is from a third party so Amazon has nothing to do with it.
It is a two year extended warranty because, it not only adds one year to the warranty Amazon gives for normal use damage, it also gives Accidental damage protection (for if you drop it or spill on it or whatever) for the two years. I know at some point I will probably drop my Kindle or spill something on it and I would much rather pay 65 now then 300 for a new Kindle.
Since it is from a third party and not Amazon, I bet they will be adding an extended warranty for the international at some point, if they can work out how to do the returns and replacements, since you do have to have certain licenses to send electronics out of the country.
Product Reviews (5 stars) - Read Carefully Before Purchasing This is extending the Amazon warranty against product defects for ONE year NOT two years as it runs parallel to Amazons original one year warranty. The benefit of paying for this warranty is if you are like me and need accident protection for your device. The original amazon warranty does not protect against drops, spills, adventurous two year olds, etc...., where as this one does. So if you're clumsy, or seem to have bad luck with electronic devices, the $65 dollars is probably worth the cost. Also keep in mind that the warranty is ONLY valid in the US.
(3 stars) - good deal? depends. Have I mentioned I kill computers? Don't know how, why or when I offended the computer gods, but I can tell you for a fact, they don't like me. I, for one, will get my money's worth out of this deal, so for me, this is a no-brainer. You, on the other hand, have to ask yourself, have you had bad experiences with computer driven devices? Here's the simple math; if more than about 1 of 4 computer driven devices you've owned, have physically failed (not including needing a SW update, because, I believe, Kindle can do that) within the first two years of your owning it, then go for it. If not, skip it.
Just to state my creds on this, I stopped counting confirmed HW failures back in 94, after 50 confirmed failures. I've killed microwaves, automobiles (my own, rentals, leased, and I don't borrow cars from friends), desktops, laptops, mainframes, cameras, phones, GPSs, PDAs, Macs and PCs alike. I'm careful, but indiscriminate. People laugh when I say so, but after they've known me for a while, they don't let me go near anything they own with a computer in it. Right now, my car is in the shop, getting a new computer for the transmission! Go figure.
(1 stars) - Save your money Called to order this warranty and was told the Kindle was not eligible because it was a gift and I was not the original purchaser. Some advice to the wise, veracity does not pay in some situations.
(5 stars) - Be protected Don't leave anything to chance. You paid enough for your Kindle so why not provide the extra security to go with it. $65 is a good price when you consider that they will replace it with an actual Kindle. I did my research and you shouldn't be fooled by price. I beleive that you get what you pay for and cheaper isn't better.
