I was looking for a small clock radio that could also play an iPod. This SONY ICF-C7IP fit the bill almost perfectly. My main beef with it is that it's not especially intuitive to use. And, the buttons along the side and back of the unit are too discreet and easily pressed when holding it to set the alarm, causing me to do stuff I didn't mean to do. Without a bright light, you can't see what their functions are.

Being able to program 2 different alarm times AND separate weekend times are terrific features. I also love the automatic time set and daylight savings time adjustment. No more worrying about forgetting to change the clock twice a year.

Unlike some reviewers, I don't find the brightness of the clock to be too bright. I keep it on its dimmest setting and that's perfect.

Given the size of the unit, the sound is decent. I didn't really expect much from it in terms of high fidelity and don't plan on listening to my iPod through it much. Its main use is to be able to wake up to music or podcasts that I've chosen. I'm not even that worried about its ability to pick up FM stations, though it does that reasonably well. Without an AM antenna hooked up, I can't receive any AM stations. That's a total non issue for me, as I never listen to AM these days.

So far, I've found that my 3rd generation 30GB iPod, 5th generation 80GB iPod, new 160GB iPod, and 2nd generation iPod Touch all work perfectly in the dock and with the supplied remote.

In all, once I get accustomed to the placement of the buttons and how to set the alarm, it will serve my needs just fine.

At the outset, I must say it is a nice device to have. Very useful features, compact and neat looking too.
Good audio quality. I feel the device is a touch expensive for its features. Nonetheless, I would still recommend it to anybody. I think it would be a great gift for this holiday season as well!

(5 stars) - Great sound, reception and appearance
I had a really old Panasonic clock radio from the 1980s that I loved but wanted to update the bedroom after I remodeled. I can't figure out why there are literally scores of radios out there from dozens of manufacturers and each with a different gimmick to sell. I settled on the Sony brand because it has always been reliable for me. This particular one from Sony is small, has a large display for night viewing, has a dual alarm, which I needed because I often sleep through one alarm, can use either iPods or an input from another player, and looks great. The reception is always great and the remote was an added bonus that I didn't expect to find useful. I use it all the time because it allows me to place the radio anywhere I want on the night stand and still be able to control it from beyond arm's reach.

The style and size are excellent, do not take a lot of space on the nightable.
Love the capability to wake up to Ipod music.

Con:
Expected a better antenna. Reception not very good for quite a few stations in my area (zip code 342xx)

(5 stars) - Wow! Totally blown away by how far we've come
A few years ago I bought a Sony CD clock radio for about the same (or more) money. It's in the basement somewhere. I had been using a $10 clock until I bought this.

The main thing I wanted was a charger for my iPhone next to the bed without a lot of clutter, so this seemed like a good bet. Other than a little bit of review reading, I did absolutely no research on this product before buying it.

I'm completely blown away by how nice this clock is. It sets itself (and you can tweak the timezone). The display is sharp and the light level adjustable. The iPhone dock can be slid into the clock when not in use. The power brick is a bit large but not horrible. The clock is attractive, and has a spiffy little remote. The audio quality is not going to win any awards, but it delivers a solid audio performance for the money and form factor. There's 2 alarms, and the buttons are on the front.

I am really happy with this clock.
