I'm amending and upgrading both my comment and my rating, because I'm astonished by the incredible service this company gives. I was having trouble getting this to work with my treadmill because of the sloping top and lack of crossbar, but the developer walked me through it. Before you buy, be sure to go to their website, because there are some machines that it will not work with. But, if they indicate that it will work, believe them. They'll work with you until it does.

Thanks to the SurfShelf I can watch movies & tv on my laptop while using our elliptical trainer. 2 things learned - set the shelf at an upwards angle as the weight of the laptop will push it down - and make sure you have the strap on very very tight.

Lazybones no more! After 50 years of agreeing in theory that exercise was healthy, I'm finally walking the walk, or rather, "ellipticalling" to an entire movie a day, thanks to the Surfshelf. This tough 2 piece assembly rapidly attaches to your equipment of choice,(treadmill, elliptical or stationary bike ) after which you attach your portable car DVD player or laptop. Wham! Exercise AND RAPID WEIGHT LOSS is fun! So far I've lost 17 pounds in 3 months!

It fits nicely on my treadmill, a few of the buttons are covered up, but I can still use it. Very sturdy, holds my 12.1" Fujitsu Tablet perfectly. (They are the same width.) I wouldn't suggest putting your whole bodyweight on it while using the touchpad or anything, but I type in addresses and browse just fine walking at 3mph. You probably couldn't do anything but watch video if you were running. I really do like it. The laptop is supposed to sit up higher than you're used to. The screen is at eye-level (ish) which makes the keyboard much higher. It actually serves a purpose though, when you sit you generally put weight on your keyboard and wrist rest. If you try to do that while exercising, you and your laptop are hitting the ground and getting shot off the back. (And it's bad exercise form to lean on the machine.) So don't lean on it and you'll be fine.

I've been thinking about how to get my laptop set up with my treadmill forever. If you look for things like "articulating laptop stand", you'll see that they START around $400. i thought about building my own contraption. Finally found this. It's small, light, maybe a leetle kludgey, but it works and for the price it's GREAT. Only warning, if you buy this, you will have to find OTHER excuses for not exercising, as being unable to get online will be off the list. My new excuse...shin injury. heh heh.
