This is a good machine so far.It moves alot of air for an energy star dehumidifier.The water tank can be difficult to empty but once you learn how to open it it is not too bad.It does such a great job removing the humidity I ordered another one for the second level of my house.My old admiral dehumidifier was ancient and sounded like a truck.I am sure I can run two of these dehumidifiers (maybe more)for what that was costing me.As far as how noisy it is it depends on what your used to and where you want to use it.For me it is much more quieter then I am used to.Like the sound of a good fan.It is perfect for basement use.Theres no point in buying the smaller one to save a couple of bucks.The 50 pint is perfect-the 70 pint is overkill unless you have a huge space or commercial building.I have read many reviews on this and for the money this one is #1.

(4 stars) - Does The Job
We have a 480 sq ft basement area that was beginning to feel musty after the big Georgia rains. Unfortunately, we don't have a sink or drain down there, so we needed a dehumidifier that had a fairly substantial tank that could be emptied regularly (but one not so large that I couldn't get the tank out or lug it up the stairs). This humidifier holds 50 pints, is on wheels with a top handle, and has touch pad, digital controls (including a humidity read out). It has two fan settings, low and high. You can run it in continual operation mode or pick a humidity setting and it will cycle on and off as it reaches your set point. We decided to run it on continual, for fear that the constant on/off/on/off would burn out a relay. It has a very easy to see red ball floater by which you can tell in a glance how close you're getting to full. When the tank reaches maximum capacity, the dehumidifier automatically shuts off and a alert light blinks. It took us a few days to get the hang of pulling the tank out (you have to somewhat awkwardly press in on the sides of the tank), resulting in a few water spills, but now that we know how it feels, we haven't had another mishap. The tank is mostly covered on the top and has a very convenient handle for carrying (this is VERY handy). With all the rain we have been getting as of late, we have to empty the tank just about every day and a half.

I took one star off the review because this puppy is LOUD. It's not an issue for us because it's located in the basement, but I can hear it running when I am in our kitchen and there is no way I would be able to sleep if it were on our second floor.

All in all, it does exactly what it says it will do and is very efficient. I can't speak to over all longevity as we have only had it a month, but so far, so good!

We had a problem with dampness in the basement of our hundred year old house. My husband asked me to get a couple of dehumidifiers to take care of that problem.
After reading some product reviews I bought 2 of the Frigidaire 50 pint dehumidifiers. They have worked beautifully since I bought them a couple of months ago. Using a simple garden hose I was easily able to have the water drain directly into the sump pump, so except for occasionally rinsing out the filter, these dehumidifiers are zero care!
The one concern I had was a couple reviews I read mentioned noise. I have not found that to be a problem at all. I am very happy with this product!
