(2 stars) - Where's the coconut?
I have never had coconut water before, but I LOVE coconut. I'm not a water drinker, so I thought that this drink would make me want to drink it instead of diet soda. I ordered the plain variety.

I guess I was expecting this to taste like liquid coconut. What it tastes like is ....water. The alleged "coconut" flavor is so faint that if you didn't know this was supposed to be a coconut beverage, you'd never guess it.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't discern any weird taste to it or an aftertaste ( although my husband did - he hated it! ). To me, it just has no perceptible coconut flavor.

If this is what "real" coconut water tastes like, then I'm not a fan.

I ordered this as a subscription based on the rave reviews. I should have read the negative ones, too. I canceled the subscription, especially since it's now $17 per case as opposed to the $12 and change I paid during a recent sale. It's not worth the $12 in my opinion.

Did it make me want to drink more water? No! I dread having to plow through the remainder since my husband says he won't drink any more of it.

I bought this because of a very good amazon gold box deal that I couldn't let pass. These taste a bit sweeter than real coconut water and feel like one of those artificial coconut water packs with young coconut chunks in them. I wouldn't buy these again. I would instead recommend
Zico Pure Premium Coconut Water, Natural Flavor, 11-Ounce Units (Pack of 12) or O.N.E. Coconut Water, 11.2-Ounce Aseptic Containers (Pack of 12). Preference order O.N.E > ZICO > VITA COCO.

(5 stars) - Acquired the taste, and loving it
I read many reviews before ordering this. Wasn't sure if I would like the taste or not. When I took my first sip, I thought it was a defective lot, or the water had turned bad. There was a noticeable after-smell that I didn't feel comfortable with.
However, I gave it another chance and slowly began to like it. Now I can't have enough of it. It feels very pure and fresh, and is extremely nourishing.

We were prepared to like this, but had the same experience as other reviewers giving one star for this product. The flavor's off, unpleasant. Something's wrong with the "best-by" March 2009 batch, or at least with the shipment we received. Caveat emptor!

If you're expecting,as I was, some delicious sweet tropical paradise drink....this ain't it.
It tastes OK but was not at all what I was expecting. Never having drunk coconut water directly from a
coconut I guess I thought that it would be like Hawaiian Punch times 10.
Yes,I note that it appears to be healthy with lots of potassium(680 mg) and no fat
but it kinda tastes like flat water that's had a coconut soaked in it.
Not horrible but far from great.
