Antennas Direct CLEARSTREAM4 Antenna

Product Details

ClearStream antennas represent a breakthrough in size and unmatched ultra efficient design and directionality. Advanced design software allows these 20" x 28" antennas to be smaller and powerful across the core UHF DTV spectrum offering consistent high gain. This advancement in antenna efficiency allows up to 98% of the available broadcast signal to actually reach the incoming antenna cable rather than being lost to impedance mismatches. The ClearStream4 quad-loop design receives all core DTV channels available with a range up to 65 +miles. There is also additional capability on higher level VHF frequencies. They are engineered for extra strength and durability, using anodized aluminum for corrosion resistance and are easy to assemble.

Product Reviews

(5 stars) - Excellent
This antenna works extremely well.

I used to have a large yagi as part of a VHF antenna on my roof which did a marginal job, but would get moved around by weather or birds(seriously) causing reception problems. The old antenna brought in some of the digital channels which were broadcast from around 60 miles away. I do live towards the top of the local terrain and had it mounted on top of the 2nd story roof peak. Eventually mother nature took it's toll in wear and tear and I needed to replace this old radio shack unit.

When I set-up the new one I tried it indoors from the 2nd floor and found reception was so good I tried it from the attic. It's still in the attic and works really well. I receive all the stations I expect and get a great digital picture. I'm sure I would get a stronger signal if it were mounted outdoors, but I don't need a stronger signal since it's digital (you either get a signal or you don't with digital. no snow from weak signals like the old analog days). And having it mounted indoors means it will stay working for years protected from mother nature.

One minor note. When it first arrived from Amazon a piece of the large plastic loops was split open along the seam. The was the first time I had any problem with something from Amazon so I was concerned about how hard it would be to exchange it. Kudos to Amazon as it was a simple phone call, they shipped me a replacement, and a postage paid return for the defective unit.

I love Amazon and I love this antenna. It's a great HDTV antenna. No costly satellite/cable bills for me.

(5 stars) - ClearStream4 Antenna
The C4 antenna I ordered from Arsenal PC was an open box and it was obvious it had been previously assembled. There were some light scuffs and scratches but it seems to be working fine. The price was great so I don't mind if it has some cosmetic imperfections. I also ordered a cable signal booster from another vendor and I am now running 3 TVs off of the same antenna and they all get 26+ channels (some duplicated (SD/HD)) and good reception with only occasional minor blocks thrown in on some channels.

Arsenal PC's customer support is fantastic! I contacted them 3 times and received prompt, courteous, and helpful responses each time. They even offered to cancel my order so I could re-order and add an antenna mount to save on shipping.

(5 stars) - Just what we needed for DTV reception
Using this Antennas Direct ClearStream4 to replace my "Shack" 7-foot yagi made a big difference. In addition, using a Channel Master 7777 pre-amp made (far superior to the "Shack" pre-amp I spent almost as much money on) helped boost the signal levels. This antenna's high-gain plus the 7777's low 2db noise and very high 28db gain is what we needed to overcome 100 ft of coax and our 30+ mile distance to the nearest Boston towers. With the old "Shack" antenna and pre-amop we got only (8) channels on good days. Using this antenna and the "Shack" pre-amp increased it to (15) channels with a bit better signal power. Once we swapped to the 7777 pre-amp, our channel count went up to a solid 26 channels plus some others that come in on good weather days.
We live in a valley with the towers obscured by the hills, plus many tall oaks and pines surrounding. Regardless, the Antennas Direct ClearStream4 antenna on the roof with a 10ft mast allows us to watch TV without a cable bill. The kids are thrilled to be watching so many PBS stations and daddy is no longer the 'bad guy'!
It is definately directional and you'll need to take your time aiming it. Regardless, we're receiving some NH towers that are closer but about 180 degrees from the Boston towers we're aiming at. Maybe it receives well from front and from back, but not the sides...
I would recommend this antenna to anyone looking to receive more free DTV.

(2 stars) - Not good as hoped
I live close (10 miles) to 2 hills 40 degrees apart, with TV antennas, one blocked by a hill (I can see the tops of antennas from my roof. I picked the clearstream4 because it had a wide capture range that would get the 40 degrees between the antennas. I picked this having one of the better DB gains.
I am an electrical engineer with 40 years experience, so it was not a casual choice.
Putting the antenna together from the box was difficult with only a few pictures and lots of wrong variations to choose.
I took down my old 20 or so year radio shack antenna (it has 2 of the longest poles of the VHF antenna missing).
I have the antenna on a rotor, and rotated both thru the range of directions for both antenna hills.
The Clearstream4 had significantly poorer reception than the old Radioshack, losing 5 or more channels (not subchannels). I put the radioshack back. Sigh. I still cannot get the FOX station.
The return policy from Amazon is very impressive. UPS picked it up the next day.

(5 stars) - Works awesome with Tivo HD
I normally don't do reviews. Had this for one month. I got rid of cable and went strictly HD over the air with my Tivo HD. I'm about 13 miles away from the towers. My signal strength was about 75-85% w/o plugging it into my tivo. Once I plugged the antenna into the Tivo, it shot up 85 -100%. So I believe, the tivo boosts the signal. Any case, I'm happy and have never had a problem. Glad I read reviews. I was going to by the antennas direct db2 antenna (which also got positive reviews)
