Product Details Furminator - Waterless deShedding Shampoo and Conditioner for Dogs and Cats.
Product Reviews (4 stars) - The good and the bad for big dogs I have a Bernese Mountain Dog and all grooming/washing is a nightmare, so given that, anything that helps is great. Between professional grooming appts. this waterless method does a very good job of eliminating (or at least masking) the 'rolling in dead things' smell. The pleasant scent is a vast improvement. The product does actually clean. The white on her face and throat come clean immediately as I towel the product off, and these are often red clay stains, so that's saying something. It apparently is not irritating to her eyes either. I'm sure some gets in her eyes and nose, but she doesn't squint or snort after I spray near her face. I try to be careful, of course, but am sure there's some over-spray.
I can't see how much cleaning I achieve on the black part of her, but she is shinier after using the product so at least the surface dust/dirt is removed.
On the down side, I really disliked the finger-tip sized tiny sprayer. On a small dog it may not matter so much, but I have to do A LOT of spraying. I promptly switched the contents to another spray bottle. After toweling her dry, I proceeded to do some brushing, but found it wasn't any easier than after using the Showsheen horse product I usually use. Both products seem to help keep debris from sticking to her coat, but neither is perfect.
Bottom line for me is that I'll probably keep this just for her face and throat since it seems to clean the white part nicely without bothering her, but will continue to use the other product on her body since it's more economical.
(4 stars) - Works! Perfumey! Yes, if you like strong perfume, you may find it a 5 star product.
I loved the quick working action of the disappearing foam. It really removed dirt, he loved the massage, and his fur was soft and clean. His skin was conditioned. A little went a long way.
But he stank for a week of perfume.
I smelled different brands (after--doh!) at Petco. Miracle Coat smells like shampoo, definitely better. Similar ingredients.
I thought about trying it again, and then wiping him down with baby wipes. But I didn't want to deal. I gave it to my SiL who likes strong perfume.
(2 stars) - All washed up I have an 8 year old German Shepherd (AKA hairball). I have the furminator deshedding tool and love it. It definitely loosens alot of her hair (which I'm sure the neighbors don't appreciate). I was so excited to try the shampoo. However, I am so sad to report that I didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I followed the directions exactly - and did not see any change in the enormous amounts of hair that was expelled from her body as she walked across a room.
(4 stars) - Good Stuff Good product. I didn't expect much from a waterless shampoo but it actually worked pretty well. It probably doesn't clean as well as using your regular dog shampoo and water but it does the job well enough. When used with the FURminator deShedding tool my dog has a nice clean coat on him.
(4 stars) - Smells great, short lasting I am a bit concerned about the smells of dogs to non-dog owners. Of course we all love our dog and his smell (not too bad) but I like keeping it clean so he is adored by all. This product smells great! Our dog seems to be fine with the spraying of it on his coat. The only issue is that the product seems to go away by the end of the day. I use it about once every two weeks. (It definitely doesn't last that long but I don't want to overdue it!)
