(2 stars) - Acceptable
The fact that this product does not have any display makes it difficult to test for accuracy. In addition the range of communication with the central system in the house is somewhat limited... It was not performing accross a concrete wall and I had to relocate it near a window.

(5 stars) - it does what its supposed to
just make sure you have the a 915 MHZ base unit to communicate with this wireless sensor. some other base units are 415 MHZ(not sure of the exact number). it comes with plastic cords to attach it to a hole. I believe the manual mentioned avoiding direct rain although it should withstand some drops of rain with the cover. The only hassle is the whole syncing thing. if you have two or more 'external' sensors then you have to remove the batteries of the base unit and the 'external' sensors if any unit needs a batterie change. but i'm hoping that batteries won't run out anytime soon. Even with this minor incovenience i would still recommend this unit and La Crosse tech in general to others.

(5 stars) - Accurate, cheap and quality
This unit arrived via mail redirection to me in Victoria Australia,
Just in time to measure the hottest day in our history in Melbourne.
Our hot-house recorded 50.2C (118.9 F) on one sensor and the other two sensors that I had gave me other temperatures at a flick of a button to highlight 46.7C in the shade and on the dark side of the house. Needless to say it was a warm one. The unit and sensors were easily mounted and become online once the unit started to talk to them. I had others sensors around and they were spot on for accuracy without any calibration. If only they could produce rain it would be perfect.

I had been looking for additional sensors for my wireless weather station for some time. Friends guided me to Amazon.com. I placed a search for my product needed. This company had them available so I purchased the 2 additional sensors. I was able to easlily track them and when I received in a very timely fashion, I hooked them up in different locations. Living in the arctic it is vital to keep an eye on areas so we do not freeze up and have broken waterlines. I can now monitor the outside temp, my heated garage temp and I even placed one in our greenhouse so we can monitor and maintain the temp in the spring when plants can start to grow in there. Thanks you for making my life a bit easier. I truely have peace of mind. Great Service!!!!!

(3 stars) - Short battery life
I love my weather station when it is working. However, the battery life does not appear to be very good. I purchased this usit in June 2008 and have replaced the batteries, twice. It came with my wireless base station (with Oscar icon) and I place it about fifty feet from the house in the backyard, attaching it to our Rainbow playset. Now, in December 2008, I just walked through the snow to replace the batteries, again. Also, having to remove the batteries from the base station whenever any unit needs new batteries (so they can all sync up) seems to me to be dated solution that someone with a decent software degree could improve. Or, at least give us some reset buttons so we don't have to fiddle with batteries, please.
